Newest firmware is great!
I have had the Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 for multiple years. At first software was unstable and very difficult to work with (A frustrating experience for sure). I give it up to Pro-Ject for their continued improvement and not leaving purchasers in the cold. This product’s control app is a variation of the Volumio App. So it is easy to use. Also you don’t need a linear power supply because it was designed by John Westlake with that taken care of with internal capacitors. There are not many Digital Bridge products for streaming. This is a very good value as the price is inexpensive for its build quality! I have a very nice DAC and don’t want to waste my money on an all in one streamer with a sub par internal DAC. I feel that is the whole point of audiophiles, that have separates in their system. Give me the best of a specialized piece of gear. I don’t want to pay for any fat on my filet mignon when paying for it by the pound. With this Digital Bridge for streaming and your DAC. It doesn’t really get better than this until you start paying Naim ND 5 XS2 money!

Enttäuschend
Für so ein teures Produkt made in Österreich ist die App eine Enttäuschung um nicht zu sagen „amateurhaft“.
Kein Tag ohne Verbindungsprobleme mit Tidal (Kabelgebunden). Von nichtvorhandenen Update der App ganz zu schweigen. Die gute Tests im Internet sind wahrscheinlich „gekauft“.

Poor app
Limited amount of data can be pulled from your network lan. Individual tracks cannot be selected for play.
Works well after setup
You do have to get your Pro-ject streaming device set up correctly on the same WiFi network as your phone for this app to work. Once that was done, this app works well. I've found that any issues are due to my WiFi network not responding or the streamer not connecting.
This isn't a particularly fancy looking app but I've found that it does everything I need for listening to local files or streamed music via Qobuz.

Annoying app
Very slow starting time and freezes frequently.
Good once set up
Set up is difficult. Poor instructions. No success setting up via wifi, so connected to Ethernet for set up. Once that was completed, wifi works fine. Early versions of the app weren’t completely stable, and couldn’t cope with very large TIDAL playlists. With the most recent update (late 2020 I think) these problems were solved and the app works quite well.

App keeps shuffling
I can’t play an entire song in Tidal or Qobuz! It only lasts 30 seconds then switches!

Ich war sehr unsicher da es wenige Erfahrungsberichte gab. Ich betreibe mit der App die ‚Steam Box S2 Ultra‘ am DAC der ‚CD Box DS2‘.
Das Einbinden ins Netzwerk hat prima geklappt und Qobuz war, anders als in der Anleitung beschrieben, neben Spotify, Tidal und Highresaudio sofort zu sehen. Login eingeben und los gehts. Alle Favoriten der Qobuz App vom iPhone wurde sofort und korrekt angezeigt. Auch das Hinzufügen neuer Favoriten sowohl bei Qobuz als auch im Internetradio hat perfekt funktioniert. Hier scheint die aktuelle Version verbessert worden zu sein. Die Reaktionszeiten der App sind sehr schnell und Abstürze o.ä. Sachen habe ich bislang nicht festgestellt. Für Titel in hoher 192er Auflösung musste allerdings der Puffer in den Einstellungen höher eingestellt werden, was easy war.
Zum Betreiben an einer NAS mit eigener Musikbibliothek kann ich hier nichts sagen. Hier habe ich keine Erfahrung.
Der Klang in meinem oben genannten Setting ist jedem Zweifel erhaben. Tolle App für tolle Hardware. So soll‘s sein!

Cannot find Bluetooth
Cannot find WiFi but connected via Bluetooth. App does not work with Bluetooth. Only manual keeps appearing telling me how to connect. Ridiculous.

Qobuz Integration mit Mängeln, App mit Potential
Eigentlich eine gelungene App, die gut mit der Hardware (Streambox S2 Ultra) zusammen werkelt. Allerdings ist das Anlegen von Qobuz-Favoriten eher eine Glückssache. Der Versuch endet meist in einer Fehlermeldung, so daß man stets den Umweg über die Qobuz-App nehmen muss.
Gleiches gilt für die Suche allgemein. Klickt man auf den Zurückpfleil landet man wieder auf der Einstiegsseite und kann von Vorne beginnen. Ferner lässt sich z.B. auch kein Internetsender aus der Playeransicht heraus als Favorit anlegen, hier muss man erst wieder über die Suche und dann auf das 3... Menü, etwas umständlich.
Die Bedienung könnte insgesamt etwas intuitiver sein. Es gibt noch Verbesserungspotential, das angesichts der tollen, hervorragenden HiFi-Elektronik bitte auch hoffentlich bald ausgeschöpft werden wird.

Ok, could use some improvements though
Have been using the app for a week or 2 to direct my pro-ject S2 Stream Ultra.
Couple of comments to make:
- every time I select shutdown, the device nicely shuts down, however the app never finishes. Just keeps on ‘awaiting shutdown’. I have to actually remote the active app (using the double click on ipad, then slide the app away). Would expect the app to shutdown gracefully instead.
- i think I am missing a ‘randomizer’ option when playing a playlist or ‘my tracks’.
