Great podcast player

This app is easy to use and doesn’t overcharge for a monthly or yearly subscription. It has a playlist feature that the apple podcast app doesn’t have.

Unique Clips (Cuts) Feature!

I searched far and wide to find a podcast app that was easy to use, privacy protecting, and best of all: allowed me to either bookmark or clip important segments in an episode, for later reference. Procast is the answer to all of my needs, and since it allows me to clip, save, and share segments (easily found under the scissors icon), the developer has my deep appreciation for including this rare feature. Also, it seems to be a very stable and well developed app, so it doesn’t require frequent updates to fix bugs. Hats off to the developer!

Appears they fixed it

I promised I'd come back and write a good review if they fixed the slide-bar, and thankfully they finally did.
Now that makes this app a 5 star as is good in every other way

Slidebar is so frustrating.

What’s the most important thing on a podcast app? Answer the SLIDE-BAR!! It’s essential. But it doesn’t work when streaming.

I would have given this app a 4 star, but I waited, and waited ,and waited for them to fix the slidebar fault. but they didn’t fix it. They know it’s a fault because another has reviewed it too. But the developers didn’t fix it.

The issues is slidebar doesn’t cue to where I want it to start. For example. For example it’s playing at 18 mins, and I want to slide back to the 13 minute mark, but as soon as I do that, it flicks back to 18 mins. So I slide to 7 mins and it May if I’m lucky go to 15 minutes. So frustrating. Why don’t they fix this long running issue?

The rest of the app is reasonably good. The ability to slow or speed up speech is good. Needs to go a little bit slower though.

The play next feature is too difficult to navigate.

Great Podcast app

This is a solid and reliable podcast app - better designed & less problematic than any other I’ve used (including Apple’s own). It respects data/privacy, doesn’t try and flog you subscriptions (indeed it is free and relies on donations as far as I can work out), no bloat, hardly ever glitches/crashes even under heavy use & the developer is supportive and responsive to feedback. You can ‘clip’/export segments of podcasts like notes which is fantastic, import/export OPML to backup/transfer your podcasts from/to other podcatchers + all the usual stuff you might hope for: playlists, downloads, search, charts and so on… Give it a try! My only criticism is that it sometimes doesn’t cache thumbnails of downloads when you’ve a lot of them which makes them harder to find offline/it misses new episodes occasionally (at least when you subscribe to lots of different pods!)

Less adds and free!!!!

This app is AMAZING. I use it all the time. It does the job that a podcast app should and it’s easy to use. I love this app so much and I suggest you download it if you haven’t already!!!!!!

Sluggish App with frustration faults

This app could be good but it’s ruined by the slide bar to move to different parts of the audio. I go to pull the round ball on the line left to re-listen to something, but as soon as I take my finger off the ball goes the the right, back to where it previous was. So ignores the user’s command. That’s an epic fail not a little bug

I presume the developers know about the issue because it’s been a problem for around a year now, and I’m over it. There’s been plenty of updates but nothing to fix that utterly frustrated problem. Hence the 2 stars for failing to fix a known problem.

Another issues is the thumbnails are too small

Another problem is if you use the app and later come back to it, open it I find the same podcast open, which you’d think is good, until you realise it’s frozen unable to open. And the only way to fix that problem is to close the app, reopen it and then search for the podcast, then search for that episode. Again a frustrating time waisting exercise that could be fixed if the coders could do their jobs.

Yes i regularly update my iOS too. I have and iPhone 13 Pro. That works well on other Apps.

I prefer to support independent software developers, but there’s point it becomes too annoying to use.

If the problem is fixed in the next 3 months. So by end of February 2024 I’ll take down my whinging comment and change it to a 5 star rating. As only fair to give the developers a chance

Great Podcast player…needs 1.75 speed

Great podcast player, very clear audio and relatively easy to use. It does need a 1.75 speed option.

Never lose a podcast

So much better than the built in one! The playlist is solid. You can reorder it, and it remains and never suddenly disappears or gets out of order. Excellent app.
Only catch is that when adding a bunch of episodes while accessing the podcast programme’s list from the play screen, you have to add them in reverse order and then move them to the end of the playlist (other places where you can add to your playlist functions perfectly)
It would be great if they added a button called ‘add eps for whole series’ (based on the series of the episode you are parked on/tapped last) but hey, if that’s my only wish!!

difficult to use

So far, when this app works it's great but I can't always get it to work. I want to make clips of podcasts and I was able to do it for a few times. Now it just isn't working for that. And when I try to read the FAQs or the Advanced Tutorial, I get a message saying THIS PAGE IS NOT SECURE, IT MAY BE IMPERSONATING.... and says to close the page. PLEASE FIX THAT SO I CAN USE IT AGAIN!!! Or contact me - there's no way to ask for help as far as I can see.

Procast would like to send you notifications

“Procast would like to send you notifications” constant popups when not even using the app. Crashes constantly with CarPlay. “Become a podcast supporter”

Constant crashes.

Keeps unpausing podcasts.

Response from developer

Hi, no this is definitely not correct. You will get this only once when using the app

Elegantly Simple App

This app takes the best parts of Castro (inbox/queue episode management) and The Podcast App (preview cards) and combines them. It's more visually pleasing than Castro and the UX isn't as busy as The Podcast App. A really well designed app, and it's free to boot.

My favorite podcast app

I’ve tried a lot of podcast apps, and this is the one I keep going back to. Easy to use, and the best feature by far is the ability to save clips from any podcast. 5 stars. ❤️

Only app with a visible playlist

Procast is the only podcast app I could find that let me simply and easily manage my podcast episode playlist. I subscribe to lots of shows but don’t want to listen to every episode. With Procast I check each day to see what’s new and I can decide whether to add that episode to the playlist or not, but that’s not the killer feature! If I find a podcast and want to catch up by listening to old episodes I can easily add them to the playlist, but then more importantly I can see the playlist and edit it directly! So instead of listening to 20 episodes in a row of the same podcast I can drag and drop episodes, mixing them with other shows, to give me some variety. The only missing feature is a history or recently played list. Once you’ve listened to an episode it disappears from your playlist and it can be hard to find it to listen again or share with friends.

Cuts

Love the app. Made a few cuts but they don't show? Any ideas? Thanks
