Poor camera

Camera doesn’t work and is useless, I’m unable to scan barcodes

Response from developer

I'm sorry that you're not able to use the barcode scanner. The app uses your phone's camera to scan the code, and the barcode must be in focus for the scanner to be able to read it. Additionally, as stated in the scanner's help section, the barcode scanner may not be able to "read" medical barcodes due to some having a security code embedded within it that prevents off-the-shelf scanners from being able to read them. Addendum: a new version of the app (v4.5.0) is now available that improves the barcode scanner by enabling zooming in and out by spreading fingers apart or pinching them on the screen, also tap to focus if needed, and will use the iPhone's macro lens (on iPhone Pro models) which has a shorter focal length, so the camera can be closer to the barcode to focus on it.

Easy to use

Easy interface. Takes very little time to update. Editable to my specialty. Happy with the product so far.

Response from developer

Thank you for the positive review and glad you're happy with the app!

Lost data ... three times!

This app is terrible! I have lost data three times, including over 400 procedure records. Shame on me for continuing to use it again and again. I did like the format and ease of entry, plus the PDF reports are nice. But every time I go to log in again after a period of not using it, all my data is gone again. Not worth it, especially if you need a reliable way to record your procedures, such as for hospital credentialing.

Almost perfect

Great app. Does what it says it will do.
Having to enter a password every time you want to use the app is annoying - please incorporate a save password feature

Response from developer

Thanks for your review and glad you like the app! Regarding the need to enter a password every time, one can set the app to use Touch ID or Face ID so that one doesn't have to type in the password each time one logs in (in the app's settings). A password is needed to protect patient privacy and to abide by patient privacy laws. Having a "save password" feature would defeat the purpose of protecting the data with a password, since anyone that might get access to your iOS device could then log in to the app if that feature was implemented.

BEWARE OF THIS APP!

Lost all my procedure data without explanation!

Great app, except for the color.

Great app to track your procedures, with what seems like good security. I wish you could change the color though.

Lost all my procedures/data

I started using this app to log my procedures and stopped recording them manually. To my dismay, I went to pull up my procedures and all have been erased. I tried to recover over 60 procedures but to no avail. Although the use of this app was easy I lost all of my data and not able to retrieve despite all efforts. For this reason I am giving this app a 1.

Help?

I can’t get this app to work at all. If I touch the “specialty “ tab it crashes. No preloaded procedures. Help?

Response from developer

I'd be happy to help; please send me an email or use the contact form at the app's website: rmk-iosapps.com. If one has problems with an app, it is best to contact the developer directly to get help. In the Procedure Log app, one can find the contact details in the Info > Contact section. Since you haven't contacted me directly, I have no way of getting more information from you or responding directly to you. Since you state that there are no preloaded procedures, it sounds like there was a problem with the download of the app. I would recommend to delete the app, reboot your iPhone, then reinstall the app. That should fix your issue.

Great technical support

I had initially rated the App based on my frustration of a bug that was fixed immediately over the weekend.

I apologize of my initial rating and I would like to change the rating to a 5 star. This App is the best one out there for residence and fellows to stay on top of their logs. I will recommend this to my fellowship program.

Thanks for updating your rating and review, and glad you like the app. Best wishes to you in your fellowship!

Good app

I love being able to save my procedures like this. Unfortunately, I’m concerned that if this phone breaks, I’ll have no way of retrieving the information and putting it all on a new device. It appears my only option would be to constantly download the file and then reenter everything manually? Not good.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. I'm not sure I understand your concern, though. If you have your phone automatically backup to iCloud, the information that is stored within the app is backed up and can be restored onto a new device from iCloud. There's also a feature within the app that allows one to manually backup to your computer. Any backup saved to your computer can be easily transferred to the phone using either the iOS Files app or iTunes. The only information not backed up is the username and password, since that is stored in a separate, secure area of the phone; so one would have to create a new user when getting a new iPhone, using the same password to log in to the app as in the old iPhone. Update (1/18/2019): as of version 3.7 of the app, the username and password are also backed up to iCloud in an encrypted format, so restoring your information from an iCloud backup to a new device should be a seamless process.

Great app!

It's a really great for logging all your procedural skills as you go along, very handy and a great way to boost your portfolio! Plus really friendly and fast app support for when I ran into a bit of trouble

Great app

Excellent customer support when encountered an issue. Great user-friendly app! Very customizable.

Perfect for students & RMOs for future training programme applications

I've been advised by senior staff to start a log book of all the procedures I perform, so when it comes time to apply for SRMO years or training programmes, you have quantitative evidence of what you have done. This app deals with this really nicely.
You can customise procedures & specialties (a few are provided to start you off), where they were performed, and who supervised you. Then everything can be nicely formatted to PDF to export for your CV.
If you're a final year student or JMO, get on this now.
