Completely unreliable! Do not waste your money!

I had these just over a year when the first one when completely offline and would not come back on. Had the installer come back out and found circuit board fried inside. The second camera is so completely unreliable that it’s so frustrating. Occasionally works, most of the time I get the message about network being unstable despite having a really high standard of WiFi connection. Only this camera has issues.

I was talked out of getting Ring cameras but my biggest regret was not sticking with my own gut instinct at the time. £200+ wasted!

Utter, utter garbage!

No Reliability

My professionally installed physical alarm system generally seems to work okay but when controlling any functionality of the alarm via the app any success becomes a matter of complete chance. Quite often it fails to connect with the message “gathering system information” then a buffering indication goes on and on culminating with a failed connection. Totally undermines my confidence in the system away from the home. Informed the installer of my system but always a bit vague about any long term solutions. Just seems to me this app full of bugs.

Fine until it stops working

I’ve had this app after having the house alarm installed years ago. Being able to control it remotely was one of the features that sold it to me. The app was working perfectly fine, then one day stopped working. My phone and broadband was exactly the same, nothing had changed. I emailed Pyronix and asked someone to call me to resolve it. A few emails from different people later, after all of them ignoring my plea for a call, and trying several times to ring them, my issue is still unresolved. They said my device needed authorising by the installer. The installer had authorised my device and is saying it’s a weak signal from the broadband.
To them it’s showing that I’m logging in. It’s clearly an issue with the app.

Hi, thank you for your review, we are sorry to hear this. Can you please email us at customer.support@pyronix.com with further details of the issues you are experiencing and include your panels unique system ID, so we can check a few things for you? Thanks and have a great day.

Does not always load

Having tried many different apps from various different alarm manufacturers I have to give my honest opinion which is I am really disappointed with pyronix for cutting corners with such a poor execution with this app. Given the quality they uphold and the dominance they have in the alarm industry I would have thought they would have given more thought in the design and user interface of this app. Instead what we have is a half finished product at best. You have to try at least 3 or 4 attempts on most occasions to even gain access onto the app. Once on the app it has limited capabilities. Hopefully in the the future they will apply focus to this app as this is the key to the future and at this later stage if they don’t get it right I can see many others such as Ajax coming and taking top place.

Thank you for your review and sorry to hear you are experiencing these issues. Can you please advise your panel ID, the operating system version and if possible send a screen recording of what happens on our app when trying to access, across to customer.support@pyronix.com so we can investigate further?

Update

Since hikvision updated the app it is not worth having. You have to constantly refresh every single camera. I run 5 sites with 31 cameras and they have totally compromised the security on all sites as it is unresponsive and sluggish. It has nothing to do with the internet. Furthermore cameras are been moved and since only I have access it means someone is doing it behind the scenes. I have spoken to several engineers and lots of end users who are all reporting the same issues.
We will not be installing any more hickvision
On our sites unless these issues are addressed, which is a great shame as it used to out do all other systems hands down.
Theres a saying in the uk. If it isnt broke dont fix it!!

Don’t bother

Updated review: now I don’t get any notifications at all. I have it installed on 3 different devices which are on different operating systems, I will be looking to move to another platform as this app doesn’t appear to be supported anymore.

Last 2 weeks the app has been constantly slow or logging me out. Videos play at greatly reduced speed, love view takes an age connect and then knot shows 1 second of footage before stopping. No where to report issues, no customer service. I feel like I’ve wasted a lot of money on a security system that isn’t fit for purpose.

Will always let you down

Actually I’ve changed my mind… this app is utter UTTER garbage. It always lets me down!!! Every single time. They should delete this and just start again. The app is ok but very basic. What it does spectacularly badly is... when you really need it, it will let you down. For example, you spend thousands of pounds on cameras and equipment, and then have this app. There is movement detected on your garden.... so you open the app.... it stalls on “86% loading and a spinning wheel” whilst you are desperate to see what’s out there! Then it finally loads... but too late to see anything live... So, you select Playback... and decide what previous minute to view, you select it, then get a “camera failed to load” message!!! Which means you have to restart your phone and then repeat everything all over again, but by now, it’s 5 minutes later and the event is well past! The intruder is well gone. Total waste of time. Total waste of effort. Total garbage. And if any developer says it’s my system, it is always the app at fault, loads of checks done and the app is the weak spot of the entire system. Rubbish.

Pro Control + Terrible - don’t touch it with a barge pole!

This App works only sporadically, so much so that we have not been “using” it, and it has not been notifying us. 4 days ago after receiving no notifications whatsoever for literally months it has started notifying again of the alarm being armed and disarmed. Unfortunately we cannot interrogate it because we can not access our account (and all the associated functionality that goes with accessing the account) within the phone App - the password is not retained and no simple password reset function, without knowledge of the existing password which is forgotten!!! To think I paid more for a house alarm with WiFi connectivity (in the first place), and a subscription for this App is an insult. Alarm installer “fixes” are short term and little or no instructions are available associated with the alarm and App; Should have stuck to a traditional house alarm and urge everybody else to do so.

We're sorry to hear this. Can you confirm whether you're still experiencing this issue? If you require the app password to access the control panel via the app, this is available within the Master Menu on the control panel - There is a short video on how to retrieve this - https://youtu.be/3YSYsCoXK1c If you are unable to access the master menu or require further assistance, please email further details across to customer.support@pyronix.com and we will look into this.

Clean app but with a flaw

Can’t find an easy way to contact dev for app support.
I have cctv system and alarm installed, use this app but for whatever reason I couldn’t fast forward the playback video.
I wish i could ask someone about this, coz it is super annoying if you are looking for an incident from cctv playback and you dont know the exact time but you can’t fast forward the video, only drag the time which might missed the event we were looking for

Poor forgotten app

This app isn’t anything anyone is going to be “wowed by” by any stretch of the imagination! The app lacks a certain feel to it and all seems a bit clunky rather than a professional app, even though you have to pay a fair sum to use it per year, developers do not take on board ideas or comments at all, even though they say thanks for feedback. The whole app as an alarm only user seems to feel like it’s not finished, even though it’s call pro control “+” - ( really not sure where the plus comes into play?). The fact it takes a finger print or facial scan to access and then still asks for a password really boggles me and then the fact that the app literally shouts at you if there’s an alarm activation (if it’s working right that is in the first place!) with a lack of any user changeable options for these alerts. The app doesn’t have a panic button, which I find astonishing! The cheapest rubbish China apps incorporate a panic facility, yet the pyronix team keep saying it’s in development - this is still like this nearly 2 years later - it’s a shambles really- and when asked for a roadmap of updates, they are unable to supply one. The app will sporadically stop notifications as and when it feels - alarm activations on my property went unknown, (a neighbour told me) resulting in a reinstall of app and multiple issues connecting to panel. The alarm itself is good (v10 enforcer) the app that goes with it - seems cheap underdeveloped and in need of a revamp, the camera side and alarm side need clear separation for those that only have purchased the alarm system. A Panic facility needs adding Ability to send auto text on panic from app Ability to use face scan to log in app in full rather than doing password as well (seems daft to even allow face scan if it still asks for passwords as per other comments ?) Developers- please read comments and please action what customers ask for, especially when we pay for this “app”.

Terrible

This is a terrible app. The user interface looks old and is clunky. Worst of all, each time you set or de-set the alarm, the app gets disconnected from the system. This is just at the point when you need to know if the action taken worked. I.e is the alarm on or off. It takes several more login attempts to access the system. This makes the core function of activating or deactivating an incredibly frustrating experience. The manufacturer and developer should not have been able to release such a shoddy app into the market. If you are looking for an alarm system that is controlled by an app, avoid ones that use this one.

A Honest Residential Review

I recently had a professional company install a Pyronmix Alarm System and 6 Camera HikVison Indoor and Outdoor CCTV. The reason for this particular install was the opportunity to have both CCTV and Alarm within a single application.

I have to tell you, this application performance is purely based on the quality of your installation. I vigorously stress tested the app, and if something wasn’t working, the installer and I would overcome the problem. For example - you really need a strong internet connection for everything. We found this out very quickly.

Right now I have been using the app for 3 weeks and overall very happy and pleasantly surprised by the speed and what it can do.

Pros:
- Speed of the app is impressive
- CCTV Window that appears
- Reliability (so far)
- Performance and Features

Requested improvements
- Ability to watch motion detection footage at x2/x4 Speed
- Ability for footage to identify what has moved in recording
- Ability to filter motion detection footage list by specific camera and not device
- Ability to see what mobile devices have access to account
- Ability to view 6 cameras (currently jumps from 4 to 9)
- Ability to set push notifications per specific camera that are connected via NVR.

Cons:
- Face Detection Notifications has never worked.
- Motion Sensor at its lowest level is still really sensitive.

Overall I’m very happy with the experience, but feel there are improvements to be made. Hopefully this feedback is considered.

Doesn’t work

I have a Pyronix alarm system which works perfectly with the HomeControl app, but given that the app itself is like something from the early 90s I thought I would “upgrade” to this new version.
That turned out to be a waste of time. Despite entering all of the credentials correctly and authorising the app via the Pyronix Cloud it doesn’t work and just times out with “Connection failed” after “Getting device information. Please wait” for a couple of minutes.
It would seem from other reviews that the similar problems aren’t uncommon and from Pyronix’s responses that they don’t really get that it’s now 2020 and that technology should just work, as it does with their competitor’s products. Blaming the installer (in this case me) or some convoluted network issues just doesn’t cut it anymore. There are plenty of security systems that have been designed with internet connectivity at their core (rather than an afterthought that has been shoddily bolted on). I would suggest you select one of those instead.
I shall stick with the old app and will most likely replace the whole system with a more reliable brand in the not too distant future.

Not very reliable

I use the app for Hikvision cameras and a Pyronix alarm. The cameras always seem to work fine, but the alarm is a headache. The alarm was installed a year ago and worked fine for all devices. I replaced my phone 2 months ago and although the app connected it timed out when trying to display the alarm status. I tested with Pyronix support and they had the same issue. Existing devices still worked. Now the latest update ! Well we can now all connect to the alarm, but we have to enter the secure password as well as the pin every time we open the app. The save password no longer works. Fix one thing and break another !

Failing to connect

Had a Enforcer system and Hikvision cctv fitted all at the same time about 6 mths ago. All was working and connecting to the phone app fine with cctv notifications being pushed through.
Sadly now however when you go to Notifications area in the app for the cctv, it always says ‘failed to connect to server’ and you have to log out and back in again to see any alerts.
This happens even if the rest of the app is working fine, although most often than not all the notifications (alarm and cctv) fail to connect.
We have checked the wifi and all is good there / with all our other tech.
Any thoughts? Is there a glitch in the latest version downloaded? Do I need to reinstall? If i do will i loose all my settings?

Intermittent Notifications

My old alarm system use a phone line autodialler which was faultless. But we recently upgraded and now with BT you get an IP phone so had to upgrade the alarm to alert via the internet instead of dialling phone numbers. Had a Pyronix system installed which is a really good alarm. Even had an outdoor sensor installed so when someone approaches the property while the alarm is set I get a notification on my phone. However every so often I don’t get notifications so have to force close the app and re open it. I am slightly paranoid as I think someone could break into the property and I won’t get any alerts which is the reason I purchased the alarm. The building is on a quiet industrial estate sonno one likely to hear and report the siren itself.
To overcome this I have installed the app on my partners phone as it’s unlikely to glitch on both phones at the same time. However she now gets alerts as well which can be annoying!
Overall the alarm system is great but let down by the app. Room for improvement.

Thank you for your feedback. If the panel has sent its notification and the mobile device is not in a mobile data connection, the notification is lost as the mobile carrier does not store until received like an SMS. Text messages can be sent, but this would require further communication paths or a stand-alone speech dialler – your installer should be able to talk you through your options. With regards to the notifications - these can be enabled and disabled per notification per device, so your installer should also be able to configure this for you. We hope this helps.

Not happy very frustrated

The App has gone wrong I have set alarm remotely and now can’t disarm them because app is faulty, I would have thought such an app would work better than this considering how important it is that it works. Simple to use yes if it works affording peace of mind you say but if it doesn’t work then my peace of mind doesn’t exist. How can you justify payment for an app that can so easily go wrong . When are you going to sort it.
Users can receive push notifications on their smart device to inform them know of any activity on the system. In the event of an alarm activation it will also provide sensor details. How if the app is not working
If there is any activity on the system, the user will be alerted with a voice push notification; gets the users attention in case of an alarm and allows them to take the appropriate action. Again how if the app is not working
No matter where the user is they can use ProControl+ to control and monitor their security, video or both, at any time. Do I need to repeat myself. The app really needs an immediate update

Needs an update

I agree with a previous reviewer, need to be able to set off the alarm from within the app rather like a ‘panic’ button, and specifically either the internal or external sounders or both.

Up until last week I used to receive verbal notifications on my iPhone XS when setting or unsetting the system from the panel such as “alarm system activated” or “alarm system disarmed” which was great because you didn’t even have to look at the phone to see what was happening, now I’ve got an iPhone 11 Pro and the notifications have gone back to the standard iPhone built in sounds which all the apps have which seem like a retro step.

OK but lacking some basics

I’ve started using this as it’s handy to be able to view both my alarm systems and Hikvision CCTV on one app. It is lacking a few basic features however. There appears to be no way of arming and disarming CCTV alarms through the app. You can enable/disable notifications globally, however when using IVMS 4500 app for the CCTV, you can remotely switch on/off the “notify surveillance centre” option on a per site basis. This effectively isolated the notifications while not affecting the alarm settings locally. Also, like the iVMS app you cannot reorder the list of cameras, intruder panels you’ve added - this is basic functionality in most iOS apps. They just appear in the order you’ve added them. Not much help if you’ve a long list of sites.

Improvement over old App.

I just use this application for monitoring my Pyronix Alarm. Generally it works very well, allowing me to see when my alarm is set/disarmed, or when it’s been activated.

There is one feature I would really like to see added though. It would great to be able to remotely ‘activate’ an alarm from the app itself.

I have a separate CCTV system.

I sometimes wonder what my choices would be if I saw somebody acting suspiciously, or trying to break into my property?

At the moment, all I could do would be to call the police and wait for them to arrive. Being in a remote village, this could take them a considerable amount of time. To be able to sign into the alarm panel and remotely activate a ‘panic button’ (possibly scaring them away), would be a handy feature to have.

Could this be incorporated?

Otherwise quite happy..
