Shockingly Poor

For a publisher, and a paid subscription service, you’d really expect a better app, with a fluid GUI, easy navigation etc. Well, this might all be there, but good luck getting the app to even open, let alone load, because I’ve lost track of how many times it’s failed to do even that. A disappointment. And this is on an up to date iPad. Goodness only knows what legacy users are experiencing.

Love this mag

I’ve been a reader of publishers weekly for over 10 years, this new app is great! Highly recommend!

Still needs a ton of work

Do not upgrade. Stay on v47. The old version of this app was clunky and in dire need of an overhaul. With this new version they’ve somehow managed to make it worse. It’s slow, barely responsive. It can’t seem to remember that I’ve logged in. Issues apparently can no longer be downloaded for offline reading. The whole app seems like it’s just a frontend to web pages. The interface is completely different in landscape mode compared to portrait. Good luck trying to zoom in on anything. Given how much a PW subscription costs and how simple a magazine reading app should be, this really is unacceptable. I think maybe it’s time to get rid of GTxcel and find a new vendor to develop the app.

Frustrating app

I have been trying to purchase an individual issue for 3 weeks. Originally the “Buy” button was grayed out. Now it isn’t but it doesn’t work.

Embarrassment for publishing industry

Reminder of why the publishing industry is so slow and backwards in all things digital. Joke of an app.

Slapped-together feel

Call me crazy, but when I double-tap a full page spread I expect to zoom in on a single column. When I try to zoom with a pinch gesture, I expect the text not to snap back to full page. When I select a headline from Feeds, I do not expect to see the headline on a new screen in a larger font. I expect to see the story.

Doesn't work

I pay $19 a month for this subscription. But it suddenly won't let me download issues, present or past. Half the time it crashes. When I try to hit the contact button nothing happened. So I can't get the magazine and I can't make contact with anyone who might be able to help me. Useless.
