About

Pulse is a network toolbox for iPhone and iPad, built for the people who get asked why the network is slow. It measures a network and tells you what the numbers mean — and opens a terminal on the machine at the other end. PULSE — CONTINUOUS PATH MONITORING Re-walks the path to a host every few seconds and keeps a window per hop, so a router losing one packet in twenty becomes visible. It tells a hop dropping your traffic from one merely rate-limiting its own replies; most tools paint both red. When a host has both, choose IPv4 or IPv6, or watch the two side by side. HEALTH CHECK Eight checks and a plain verdict in about ten seconds — the link, this device's address, the router, the neighbours, DNS, the internet, your public address, any VPN — naming the earliest failure, the one that explains the others. SERVICES Sixteen everyday services — video calls, files, sign-in and mail, remote desktop — checked against their real endpoints in about fifteen seconds, with a plain verdict and one tap to a Pulse on the worst one. DEVICES Everything else on this network: named by what each device advertises, with an opt-in check for open ports on the ones you pick. ON THE LOCK SCREEN AND HOME SCREEN A running Pulse is a Live Activity on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island and on your Apple Watch, and it alerts you when the path turns bad. A widget answers "is this network OK right now?" from Pulse's last check, with how long ago, refreshed in the background. AI DIAGNOSIS A reading of any run, written for a ticket: what is wrong, where, why, and what to try next, with the evidence it used. You are asked before anything is sent, and told exactly what goes. TERMINAL SSH and telnet for the hosts the other tools point at, with passwords and keys in this device's Keychain and a key row above the keyboard. Open one straight from a traceroute hop or a device on your network. Every command you ran, per host, searchable, with anything irreversible marked. And SFTP over the same connection, in two panes. AND THE REST Certificate checks, with whether the server sent its intermediates. Ping with RFC 3550 jitter. Traceroute over ICMP, UDP or TCP. Path MTU. DNS with every record type. WHOIS over RDAP or port 43. Interfaces, routes, VPN and proxy state. EVERY RUN IS KEPT And judged again, against today's thresholds, each time you open it. Pin any tool to one interface to measure Wi-Fi and cellular separately. PULSE PRO Every measuring tool is free, and so are the terminal, the Live Activity, the widget and seven days of history. Pro adds the AI diagnosis, each service's endpoints and your organisation's own, device names that stick and what is new on your network, a link test between your own devices, two interfaces or IPv4 and IPv6 side by side, up to six Pulses at once, session comparison, picture and CSV export, full history synced through your own iCloud, sessions that stay open, command history and suggestions, file transfer, and a terminal on any hop or neighbour. Pulse Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase and renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage it in Settings. Privacy: https://peltriaux.com/pulse/privacy Terms: https://peltriaux.com/pulse/terms PRIVACY No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers. Your runs stay on this device, and sync through your own iCloud — which the developer cannot read — only if you turn that on. A terminal session runs between you and the host you named: keys and passwords stay in the Keychain, and nothing you type there reaches the developer or an AI diagnosis. Only the AI diagnosis sends anything to a service the developer runs, and only when you ask.

What's New in Pulse

1.7

September 30, 2026

Pulse 1.7 lets you send a Pulse session to someone on another network and compare it with theirs. SHARE A SESSION Share session, on a saved session or the one running, sends a link to Messages, Mail and everything else in the share sheet — tap it and Pulse opens the session — and the file to AirDrop and Save to Files. A running session is sent as it stands and keeps running. Your Wi-Fi name, public IP, place and any AI diagnosis are never in the file or the link, and the names of devices on your home network are removed from the path. What the comparison needs stays: the routers along the way, the networks they belong to and your provider's name. Sharing is free: Pulse itself uploads nothing, the link carries the session itself, and the page it opens on peltriaux.com never sees it. OPEN ONE Tap the link or the file and Pulse keeps it in History as "Shared by" whoever sent it, apart from your own sessions: it is never offered as one of your recent hosts or as a session to continue, and it is not sent to the AI diagnosis. Opening the same session twice, even once as a link and once as a file, keeps one copy. COMPARE WITH YOURS Put it next to one of your own sessions to the same host, or tap Pulse it from here to run one beside it and watch yours fill in live. Two networks part at the first hop, so instead of where the paths part, the comparison shows where the two routes meet (the first router, or the first network, you both pass through) and whether the difference is before that point, on one person's own line, or after it, on the part you share. When the host answers each of you from a different server, it says so and compares the figures alone. Comparing is part of Pulse Pro. The name your sessions go out under is asked the first time you share, and lives in Settings under This device.
