App’s AI tells you to do something, such as discard a particular tile, but does not explain why discarding that tile is good strategy / tactics. Hard to learn when no one is explaining the why.

Will not help you learn - no tutorial

This app won’t teach you Mahjong. It puts you immediately into a game and the hints tell you which tiles to discard/play, but doesn’t explain why or anything about what is going on. No explanation of gameplay, rules, tiles, or anything else to help you actually learn the game.

Not for beginners

Firstly, the font is so small at the bottom that I can’t read the tile the ‘tutor’ is telling me to discard, and I’ve gotten it wrong several times now. Secondly, there is no tutoring going on at all. Telling me which tiles to ‘discard’ (I guess that means ‘play’) without telling me why leaves me totally clueless about what’s going on. Pass.

Cant make melds?

Can’t for the life of me, figure out how to take the discard tiles and put them together with ones in my hand.

Gameplay

This game moves in the clockwise direction. Mahjong is played in the counter clockwise direction. Need to correct.

Thank you for correcting this issue.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. Tiles now play in counter-clockwise order after version 1.1.8.

Suggestion to Improve Card Separation in Mahjong Game

I really enjoy playing your mahjong game—it’s both fun and engaging! However, I’ve noticed an issue that has affected my gameplay several times.

There currently isn’t a clear separation between the cards in hand and the down (melded) cards. This has led to confusion where I accidentally change my winning tile, thinking I have better options, only to realize too late that the set I relied on was actually part of a down card. As a result, I end up losing games I could’ve won.

I strongly suggest updating the game to include a clearer visual distinction between hand cards and down cards. This would make gameplay smoother and help players avoid costly mistakes.

Thank you for your attention—and for creating such a great game!

Doesn’t teach anything

Thought this would teach how to play but all it does is give hints as to which tile to select. Ain’t no learning how to play in that. No reasons why certain tiles selected or where new tiles are coming from. This game best for learned players who just want play suggestions.

The real deal!

This is the Majong they play in China, not the tile matching game that has flooded the app store. I is fun and challenging.

Useless for beginners

I’m sure this app might be quite good if you already know how to play the game, but if you come in with no knowledge there’s nothing at all to help you understand what it is you’re doing, and why. I tapped the 3 bars and the gear icon to try to find some instructions, but there’s nothing there to help. When you work out that you need to obey the tutor’s first hint, and touch the tile, it just moves slightly. You don’t know whether you need to tap it again or drag it somewhere. I’m very disappointed, as I wanted to learn how to play this game.

Good for practice

If you already know the rules of 4-player Mahjong, this app is good for practice. The app appears to use 136-tile Chinese rules. The app is fully functional, but it could use some polish (e.g., animations, explanation of the tutor-recommended move).
