How much did this project cost the taxpayer?

‘Can I fish here’ thinks you’re inland when you’re out in the open water. So, useless.
App doesn’t have sole or flounder listed in the database… do it right or not at all.

Horrible correlation between their mapping vs satellite

Comparing the images on the maps on this app to satellite images is almost impossible. And in the sandy straits they expect you to carry your phone and utilise it with next to no coverage in a lot of the zones.

These zones are getting out of hand and the responsibility for the honest fishers is now to rely on phones where you can’t access the app unless your within coverage seems unfair.

One example I’ll make note of is In the 21st may changes, unless it’s hidden in the archive of the internet, where are the coordinates for the new zone at the front of kauri creek. The app does help with this matter either.

Can I fish here?

The layers selection pallet, on the Can I fish here page, does not turn off. It covers the entire screen and has no close button. The only way out of it is to close the app.

Generally the app is useful but it’s the same wording from the fisheries website. Which I find very confusing. I was hoping this would be easier to understand. It isn’t.

I am still in the dark as to where I can spearfish.

Pathetic app

Don’t bother with this rubbish app, it’s as useless and incompetent as the Queensland police force!!
3 times I added photos onto the app to see what the fish was and three times it didn’t find the fish in the photo, and when it did, it came up with a wrong name of fish…

The creator of this app should be fired!!!!

Make it work offline

What kind of idiotic decision was it to make a fishing app that doesn’t work offline. Out at a reef and need to check info, good luck, some idiot made this need constant data. Not really that useful where you really need it then is it…

Update

Since app has updated no photos come through

No photos and hard to navigate

I have need trying to use this app it’s total rubbish. No photos of the fish and when you try to type in the name of a known fish it won’t come up you have to look through the entire list to find them. The app is hopeless. You can tell QLD fishies have never personally used it.

Overall a useful app

Overall a useful app especially the species info and the ‘Can I fish’ here page.

It seems to struggle to open when you’ve got low or no signal while it hunts to log in. I find it better to switch to airplane mode if the signal is low then it opens up faster.

The fish species photos are also a bit vague and could be improved - better ones on the internet usually. But it’s still a handy app.

Needs to work offline.

Using the App close onshore is fine as you generally have phone reception. Offshore where fringe or no reception occurs, App is useless. Consider adding offline option. For a minimum of fish ID lookup and bag limits etc.
Other than that as this app grows it will get better. Helpful tool for fishos.

Black screen of nothing

Did work for a bit first time I go to use it properly on Moreton Island, while still in reception, now it just opens to a black screen of nothing

Stopped working

App won’t open any more just a blank screen

Ok idea…..

The idea is good, but there are no images at all on the app, the pervious QLD fishing app was allot better, at least that had images and worked when there is no signal

Internet

Not a bad app, but useless without internet coverage.

Search attributes unrealistic

Hello

The app is a good idea but for the fisherman who needs to look for a species to see if they can keep after catch it is pretty user unfriendly.

Remember the context of use. Just caught a fish and have not long to search so can release if needed (and most searching is mostly offline if out at sea).

Should be able to search via attributes eg stripes = yes, main colour = red, fins = yellow , spots = yes etc then show a list of fish ( photos -not names ) that match those attributes.

At the moment you must know the name of the fish to search for it which is not very useful as it’s the identity that you are seeking

Also, the photos need to be freshly caught photos , not photos underwater because the colours will be much different after catch

Thanks

Fish identification

Absolutely useless not even close. Tested it knowing I had an emperor app called it a snapper

Good app

It’s a good app but wish it had more photos and a map showing where the sandbanks are😂

Needs more

Very poor at best. Lack of information on size, limits. Rules and regulations are pretty hazy as well. Names are pretty bad to look up, finger mark for example also sand bass. Really bad photos of fish species and few of. A fisheries officer told me to get this app for reliable information, just leaves me with questions....

Great initiative but Can I Fish here unreliable

When trying to use can I fish here when on the water in Moreton Bay when I tap the location icon it has never shown my position accurately on the map, generally out by kilometres. For example when easy of St Helena the map showed me near the Wynnum foreshore. I have tried it a few times across multiple days and hasn’t shown my location on water accurately yet. Strange ly while on land my location is more accurate

Missing a lot of photos is species

Great app but is missing a lot of photos of most fish species making some identifications difficult. Also the photo I’d is a good idea but needs work as it works only with common caught fish or times out.
