Not worth the try

IMO an app that immediately presents a paywall with no ability to to have a trial or at least access to a stripped down “non” premium version of the app is a slap in the face and an insult to all App Store consumer. If you want me to give your app out of the millions a download, space on my Home Screen, notifications, and expectations of daily use and life integration you better at least respect me enough to try it out first before demanding my “wallet.” That’s what I was effectively prepared to do because I was intrigued by the the tailor-made aspect of the quotes being tied to year of birth or YOB having a seemingly large influence on the “algorithm” and wanted to see how well the developers executed that , genuinely. But I’m sorry even if your just charging me a penny I’m not paying for something AS A RECURRING SUBSCRIPTION before I even get a glimpse of it’s performance. Thai is a poor business model that is disrespectful to App Store customers and represent a huge blunder on the part of the developers. You give me the time and ability to legitimately trying your app then I will LEGITIMATELY consider subscribing but to demand a subscription commitment up front just wreaks of “snake oil” and, warranted or not, leaves a bad taste collectively in the mouths of most all sorry customers and removes and faith or altruism or chance that customer might offer said developer and it’s app, in turn. This is an old lesson of the App Store and models in it which are successful that should be developers, especially if they don’t expect app to customers to simply be going munkies committing to subscription models for the galaxy of apps offering out there these days (no android pun intended.

TL; DR: if developer provided a free trial or at least a glimpse of the features of the app prior to any kind of payment demand or subscription commitment, and in return THEN I’ll give your new app the time of day and access to the Pennies or dollars in my hard earned “wallet”. and I, in return, will legitimately try it out and consider paying or subscribing after trials. If not that provided at least that level of respect then I’m sorry, but your app is quickly going to be passed over and not giving the time of day.

I'm sorry

I'm sorry but it's a two stars because WHY do I have to pay to use it and I can't even check the app out with our paying first like why do you want money if I can't even see how the app is

Politics!!!

My first quote was about politics!!! I can’t believe I paid for that. I’m so over this app. I don’t think motivation should involve politics especially in this climate.

Update: I have checked it everyday for a week and honestly I don’t enjoy the quotes they seem to all the for much older people but maybe it’s because I don’t act like people my own age. I lowered my age in the app by 15 years and I was pleased. So if you are like me and not a snob lower the age and you’ll be happy too.
I would like them to go off more than just your age when they select quotes for you maybe they should have a short survey about interests and values beforehand because not everyone is the same!

Great addition to my daily routine

I have the WYSR app and Chrome extension and love the new addition to my day-to-day. The quotes being specific to my age definitely helped ground me this year as I’ve been navigating job hunting and post-grad life. Would recommend to anyone wanting to incorporate a moment of reflection into their daily routine.
