Disappointed

For about a month now, I have not received any profanity alerts from my child’s phone, even though I can clearly see that messages containing inappropriate language are still being sent and received.

The app is still installed, all settings remain enabled, and nothing has been changed on my child’s phone. I therefore do not understand why this feature has stopped working.

Stay Away

This app sucks, it’s not compatible with much like other apps like it with IOS due to the 2 factor authentication. They claim they can bypass it, but even other promises were broken like safety alerts. They are unresponsive and if they respond it’s a general AI generated response and not account specific, they didn’t even know what phone I had synchronized to their system. I synched an IPhone 12, they sent me troubleshooting instructions for an android. A bunch of idiots, they should be shutdown for false advertising. Pathetic excuse for a company!

It doesn’t work!!

I set the time limit for my daughter but never works! In my phone is showing it is blocked and she can still use it!

No trial period

You have to order for 1 year to try and find out it doesnt do much. Sorry, this is predatory practice.

Pretty average

Parental app can be annoying and clunky to use. Setting up routines for things like school holidays is overly difficult if they conflict with existing routines. Installing on most devices is easy, but random devices just won’t allow you to install. Would try something different in future.

Waste of Time, Poor Support and Does Not Work

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Qustodio has been extremely disappointing.

I have wasted two days trying to get the app to work, with no success, and my free trial is about to expire. The support system is just as frustrating. Every time I draft a message through the support section, it gets deleted and I am told to refresh the page and start again. I also sent an email but received no actual support, only automated messages saying that we have not connected 😡.

Overall, this has been a complete waste of my time. I have now downloaded a different parental control app with good reviews, and it worked immediately without any problems. I will be trialling it for 14 days before deciding whether to subscribe.

If Qustodio’s support team respond, and help resolve these issues, and extend my trial to make up for the time lost, I would be willing to give the app another fair trial and update this review accordingly. However, based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend it.

Does Not Work on IPhone

If you are trying to lock down iPhones, just know that the security and settings can be bypassed. It works well for android devices but don’t waste your money if you’re trying to control your child’s iPhone. I contacted Qustodio support multiple times and took screenshots of my child bypassing the settings and ultimately they could not help.

Doesn’t work

It’s easy for a kid to circumvent the controls on this app. Wasted my money.

I don’t review apps, but this absolutely calls for it.

Most of the negative reviews you see on this app are funny because they’re from kids, which implies at the app is doing his job. However, as a parent, my experience with this app has been absolutely atrocious. In general, not only does this app not work as advertised (you are not able to make exceptions for specific apps like you do with the native Screen Time function on iPhone, it’s all or nothing restrictions via categories), but the most egregious malfunction of this app is that while they claim it cannot brick the phone or messages due to Apple’s own restrictions, that simply is not the case. My child is currently hundreds of miles away from me and unable to use his phone at all, during allowed time, because this app has made his phone effectively a brick. Luckily, he is with family and is able to call me from their phones, but the fact that this “safety” app has made it literally impossible for my own child to contact his own parent??? Unacceptable. I have demanded a refund for the hundred dollar subscription that they scam you into purchasing for “full functionality” of all the features. Do NOT install this app under ANY circumstances.

Good controls, but small iOS bug for my son’s iPad.

It works almost perfectly fine, but to even use Roblox once, my son has to turn off the VPN. When he enters it, even when it isn’t blocked, it says he doesn’t have access to it, and when he does use it, it randomly ends his game session. Please fix this. Thanks, Kiri.

Waste of money

The internet pause doesn’t work. My children still be able to watch YouTube or play offline games even the limit time has reached. I emailed them but got no responses.

Doesn’t catch every app

Ai girlfriends and similar apps are new and popular. This app is not catching all of those so major loopholes. I’ve wrote in multiple times to get more of these ai sex chat apps added but it hasn’t been done. Will be switching to Bark

Very difficult to program and too easy to uninstall

Very disappointing for something which is quite expensive.

Parents. This wont protect your kids like you think it will. From a victim of grooming

My parents have had this on my phone for a few years now. About two or three months ago, I unfortunately was groomed and shown things I will never forget. My said groomer took me onto an app called “Sessions” (which thankfully was shut down a few days ago) where he couldn’t be tracked from I.P data and other digital footprint things police use to find the location of an account due to how it works. You know what Qustodio showed my parents? Not sessions, instead this relatively unheard of app outside of dodgy people that you probably would wonder and at least be a little concerned about was replaced with “Skype” an app I’ve simply never had on my phone and an app I doubt you’d bat an eye at or be all that curious about. So please trust me when I say if an app is dodgy enough to not want to be seen by things such as parental apps, it’ll 100% find a way to do that, at least on Qustodio.

And this bit is more towards parents thinking about getting this app for their older child or teenager (I’m thinking 10+). Your kids aren’t stupid, they WILL find a way to get around the app, they can delete it with ease, Qustodio will alert you when this has happened, it’ll say “Tampering detected”, however this really only happens with the complete deletion of the VPN, not all types of tampering, they can flip the VPN off which you wont be alerted of, sometimes this is only temporary before automatically flicking itself back on, but there can be a big space in time before this and sometimes if done in a specific way it’ll stay turned off until manually flicked back on.

This app wont protect your kid(s) like promised, it’ll just make them resent you and make them feel like you’re a helicopter parent.

Helpful app overall, more time limit schedule options would be useful

I would like more granularity to the app use limits and time limits to be able to set limits for before and after school, as well as during school hours. Instead of x minutes per day, x minutes between 7-8 am, 8-3pm, 3-6pm, etc. It would help reduce requests for more time from my child and work better with how the apps work (for socializing, etc).
It would also help so much if the app would add periodic check-in questions for the child about their screen use, so that it engages the child in thinking about their screen use and building skills to manage their own time rather than the app just cutting them off.

I hate this app

This is app is easily one of the most terrible apps I’ve ever used. The amount of parents that have told me this app isn’t good in numerous. The parents told me the that this app can track your information and kids information. This is deeply disturbing for me and I strongly recommend that you keep these complaints in mind.

This might be problem one day, you idiots

I have been wondering why does your parental control app always have to check histories, you guys don’t have to, imma say this, there are some kids that don’t know much better online of what porn or inappropriate content they watch, I understand about that but why do you guys have to show parents that, I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to do, but some kids could get lectured or yelled at for that, like you guys don’t worry about that, those children after being lectured or yelled at could cry or feel bad or it could haunt them or it’s just grief. But I’m just saying.

So difficult to use

The parent app was way too complicated to use. There are two different versions to download for the child yet that isn’t explained well at all. The chat helpers aren’t very helpful and the web browser automatically logs you out and you lose the communication you’ve already had. This app made me frustrated and I requested a refund bc I couldn’t get or make calls on the device I wanted to protect unless adding each individual number :( not practical or ideal. Yet again, this wasn’t stated until after I purchased :(

Don’t waste on this

I downloaded the app it was good for a month or so but then it destroyed my son’s iPad and the App Store was gone so I had to get a new iPad. Use the apple screen time or another app called bark

Chrome

Doesn’t tell me what sights are used, “chrome “ is a blanket
