Failed me in my time of need
I am in an intro to nuclear engineering class and I had to detect the number of gamma counts that a smoke detector would give off. I used this app, thinking nothing of it, but the second I put the tape on the cameras, I was greeted by 0 CPM constantly. It never deviated from that, which makes me believe that this was never a good app, and the reviews saying it was are lying. Either that or it worked on past phone builds but something has changed in the technology. I had to write my report on if this worked or not instead of finding the quantitative values I had to. Just very disappointed in it.

None of this made sense!
I tried to use the app to check to see if any of the rocks I have been collecting show any signs of radiation. This description made this app look like what I needed. I dropped the $7, and have NEVER been so disappointed.
Nothing is in any sort of easy to decipher on the app. No idea how to use it, or even what it is for.
I would like a refund please!

Did not work for me on iPhone 11 Pro
I believe the app needs updating to Support iPhone 11 Pro. I tried multiple ways it did not work as expected to me.

It does NOT work! I’ve just had I-131 treatment. I put my phone right next to the pill and there was no reaction whatsoever. The nuclear medicine technician told me that phone cameras cannot detect gamma rays. So don’t waste your time and money.
Awesome information
I just had radiation treatment for my thyroid and it has been helpful to know how much radiation remains in my neck and watch it as it dissipates. It provides warning quite well when the phone is near my neck.

I doubted the validity of this app, so I tested in the linear accelerator room during my morning radiation therapy. 10 feet off to the side, It worked and actually sounded alarms when the beam was activated.
Seems legit
I learned of this app from James mahaffey’s book, atomic adventures. I work inside a nuclear power plant and have tested this app a few times in front of known and unknown sources. It seems to function as described and I look forward to comparing its results to that of other calibrated detection equipment.

Amazing sensor usage; not fake
Hats off to the developer for implementing a real measurement tool for radioactivity. Visit his website to see his calibration data, I know that measurements from my iPhone 6p matched my 'real' instrument by detecting faint radiation from my granite countertops.

I have this app on my iPhone 4 and 5s and it works great! I just downloaded it to my iPad Air but have yet to try it...will update. I had to look under iPhone apps only to download it to my iPad though.
It really works
My wife was due to receive a 400MBq I-131 treatment for her thyroid. I could not miss the change to test this software. Beofre going to hospital I calibrated the device (this is tricky and requires patience) and took a long background reading (0.05 microGy). After we returned from hospital I took a second background in the same location (about 4m away from her) and got 1.98microGy. When the device is placed next to her I currently get 42microGy. It really does work. I am very impressed.

This app is amazing. I really take my hat of to the developers of this app. How the turned a smart phone camera into a Geiger counter is really amazing. The only tiny down side is that it doesn't make a click sound but hopefully that will change soon. I am 13 years old and recently I have been developing a interest in radiation and I needed a Geiger counter. This is the perfect starting counter and I really do admire the people who made this app. Keep up the great work!!!

This app is very simple to use.
Once calibrated correctly this app is accurate.
There are other apps which are rubbish, this app works using your device Camara which turns you device. into a Geiger counter.

Excellent app for those who lack hardware. Im not sure if it already exists, but could use the "click clicks" of a Geiger counter. Great app though, it's no joke!
Favourite App!
This app is incredible, it detects Gamma and some Beta radiation without any hardware! My favourite app of all time! Thank You Rolf-Dieter Klein! 😀
Improvements:
1) Maybe have themes such as a original Geiger Counter theme.
2) Maybe be able to detect Alpha and more Beta, not just Gamma and SOME Beta.
3) Maybe make it so you don't have to wait one minute before it detects Radiation, (make it so it detects Radiation constantly).
