App can’t find valve smart controller on WiFi
Installed the RCA Smart Hot Water Heater Shut Off valve. Tried for most of an afternoon to connect the WiFi module to my 2.4GHz WiFi network but no matter what I tried (allocating an IP to the MAC address of the device, resetting the WiFi smart module, ...) the app fails to find the device. Tried both Apple iPhone and Google versions of the App on smartphones but neither version could find the device. Contemplating taking the valve back for a refund.

App does not work.
The link will not connect to the wifi at all. Wasted many hours trying all sorts of different settings and locations.

The app cannot find the WiFi module. It finds the home network but fails the search for the WiFi module. Fortunately the system works without the need for WiFi.

App doesn't work.
Trash. Doesn't work. Screen is blank. Have deleted and re-uploaded it twice. Says connected to Wi-Fi but unable to do anything else with a black screen.

I am not sure if the hardware firmware need to be updated, but I can not connect the it to my network and have wasted enough time trying. The test mode on the device itself works, so I know that I am protected- just no notifications.
Does not work on iOS 15!
Just installed the valves just to find out the app doesn’t work on the most recent iOS. RCA Needs to fix this.
No connectivity
Valves seem to work, but app crashes on iOS 14…so I guess there will be no notifications!
Buyer Beware
This product requires more testing and a better user interface. No way to manipulate the control via the phone that requires you to disconnect the system. If you install behind a stackable washer and dryer with minimum clearance that provides no access behind it - you’ll end up doing more work than required.

Notifications
This app does what it says it should do. Notifications only. It does not allow remote access to the water shutoff control unit. But for the $30 price of the water detection device sensor, controller and servo mechanism, what more would anyone expect? If you want to pay 10-20 times this price then you can expect more functionality.

No notifications
The unit was in the house we bought. I was able to connect it to my router and “see” it on my iPhone X. The test routine seems to work but I receive no notification. Notifications are the only reason to install the “Smart Module.”
