My 8 year old was struggling to read we were using books then tried another app. But when we found ello after a few times she was reading. And she has improved tremendously. I tell everybody I meet about this app when they have little kids!
Dyslexic reading success
My son wasn’t reading at all by at the end of his 1st grade year. When I pulled him out of public school I started using Ello to help me teach him to read. We have just finished his 2nd grade year and he’s almost at his current grade level!! Ello’s “grade levels” are a little advance and I think he’s only at a 1st grade level in the app but he’s a reading level 2 (second grade) for all other books, including the “I can read!” book series. He and all his sibling love the app, it’s engaging and rewarding and overall everyone’s favorite part of our homeschool day. I started out with a free trial and knew by the end of the first week that we would pay for the subscription.

Amazing app
My daughter has been using ello for the past month and has improved her reading skills drastically . She is now attempting to read labels at the store and anything she comes across . My nephew is also using it and he loves it . Our family loves this app and will continue using it.
Recommend to everyone
We love Ello! Ava is reading so well. The way the books grow with her reading ability is great. My only complaint is that they don’t have enough girl clothes for Eli. Ava only wants to put girl clothes on her.

Customer service/son’s progress
Thanks to ELLO helping my 6 year old son read at his own pace two books a day for almost 3 months now he can read a full page without stuttering and has built his confidence to pick out books at the school library. I would also like to mention customer service is so patient when it comes to fixing an error and gets back to you within a timely manner.

The app was very beneficial.
My granddaughter used it a few times, not as much as I had hoped.
I was passed the free trial period canceling; however have since been in touch with the support to cancel and have yet to get the subscription cancelled. And they are still managing to steal my money.

Elementary school admin appreciated
I subscribed to this for the trial and have since maintained the subscription. I appreciate the data the app provides with reading rate, words child is challenged by etc. I also like the reading level selected texts which before I was having to find on my own. I would highly recommend this app, and for see long-term use for both my kids, ages 6 and 3.

Game changer
This app is amazing!! Like most learning appt I am hesitant but my 5 year old is having such a hard time reading and this is the second day and I have not ever heard her read so well and with such confidence! if you are on the fence about it go for it give it a try, be consistent and encouraging.

Great app with room for improvement
Ello is a fantastic app for helping young readers build reading skills quickly and confidently. As a homeschooling parent, I’ve been amazed by how much progress my first grader has made and Ello has been a large part of that journey. That said, the parent facing data and analytics could use significant work. From what I see, there is no way to breakdown progress by time period. Things I would like to see are quests, books, and minutes completed over selectable timeframes. Some examples of other stats that would be nice to have are things like accuracy rate, pages skipped, and a list of top 50 or 100 words that the child is struggling with.

Great reading program but would like to choose words to review at the end of books and also have a dictionary for new words that are introduced in stories. Ie: doe, swabbing

Maaaaaaaaaaaan, I’m a mom of four and pregnant with my last baby. My husband and I were struggling my so hard with helping all the kids on their different grade levels of reading. Ages 5, 6, 8, & 10. Look this app got EVERYONE on track in only a few months. Scores on reading test came back yesterday and I started crying. If you’re super busy and literally just do not have the time daily this app will fill inn the gaps and help teach your babies how to read understanding all the fundamentals and gain confidence. I can’t brag about enough. I prayed for help something, tried hooked on phonics, waste of money. Tried abc mouse waste of money, but ELLO! Yeah Ello did its big one. It’s affordable like cheap as it gets & still better than all the rest. Try it.

So much progress
I absolutely love this app, my daughter was unfortunately almost to grades behind and I was buying so many learning games, cards, workbooks etc, nothing really helped much but this app in one short month has made her into a confident little reader only two downsides
1) it’s not available on google play (my daughter has a tablet and this
would be so very helpful to have her work on reading while I’m at work)
2 ) it only goes up to 3rd grade.

Rockstar reader!
My son started this program October 2025, he was 7 years old, and he didn’t know at all how to read because of his ADHD. And I can testify now not only his been reading 20 books, he’s also the best reader ever! He used to go to Kumon by paying $ $12000 for 6 months with very minimal results. And now I paid less than $15 per month. And he he’s doing that great!!! I definitely recommend this program to all parents, specially with those struggling ones, please try it, you won’t regret!!!

Helps So Much!
Ello has really helped my grandson, who is in first grade, learn and want to read!!! I highly recommend this app/subscription as it keeps a child’s attention, offers a variety of books and stories to choose from. You can even help create your own stories! If you have a child who is struggling with reading, I would highly recommend this app/subscription to help get your child on the right path to reading!!

Phenomenal app
Reading with Ello has been a game changer. The ability to tap to have words sounded out has made learning to read much smoother.
Great for engagement and fluency, but needs some major fixes
My son genuinely enjoys using Ello and it keeps him fully engaged with reading. I’ve already noticed improvement in his fluency and confidence after just a couple of days, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The stories are fun and the app does a great job supporting early readers.
However, there are a few things that need improvement. The app glitches often and sometimes doesn’t accurately track all the books my son reads. I also wish there were stronger parental controls. My son can log himself out, and once he does, it becomes difficult to get back into the app. It would help a lot if there were a secure parent login or lock feature. I’ve reached out to support and am waiting for a reply.
Overall, the concept and benefits are great, but the technical issues make the experience a little frustrating. If those bugs get fixed, this would be a 5-star app.
