User reviews

Every book lover needs this app

I love this app! The layout feels a little haphazard but I hope it gets better as the app develops over time, or maybe I’m just not used to it😆

Just what I need, but…

I love to scroll through the perfect bite-size reviews, but I have yet to figure out how to see an entire gist. The longer ones cut off. Clicking on it just brings me to the book info.

I really like being able to add my books to the “up next” list and the ability to change the order simply by dragging the book cover into a new position.

Can’t get past the intro

I’ve tried repeatedly to get past the intro or sign up, but can’t. It keeps taking me to a page that simply says “Let’s get more specific!” with nothing to click, and it won’t move past this page. Annoying.

Almost perfect

I really enjoy this app. Just a few things I’d like to see.

1. Transferring lists from Goodreads (it only transfers over your “read” books) - I would like the capability to transfer over lists as that’s how I keep track of my Library
2. Ability to edit mistakes in the book info - such as incorrect author spellings, other misspellings, incorrect book titles, and wrong or low quality book covers (perhaps having volunteer libraries like in Goodreads?)
3. Having start and finish dates on books
4. A chat function

Great alternative to Goodreads!

I love the simplicity of this app and now that they’ve added the ability to add dates and additional tracking it is becoming my go to tracking app.

FAQ

What is Readerly?

Readerly is an independent book discovery platform designed to help you track your reading, explore your stats, and discover new books. It offers a unique approach to recommendations by providing context with reviews rather than relying on a traditional 5-star rating system.

How does Readerly differ from other book apps?

Readerly moves away from aggregate 5-star ratings, instead offering reviews with context about reviewer taste overlap and shared interests. It also ensures popular books don't dominate your feed by hiding books you've interacted with, making space for new discoveries.

What are 'Gists'?

Gists are a replacement for traditional book reviews. They are short, easy-to-create slides that start with a quick shoutline and can include tags, character bios, favorite quotes, similar books, and creative "Read This..." prompts.

Is Readerly free to use?

Readerly is free to use for its core features. However, there is an optional Readerly+ subscription that offers additional benefits like access to genre-specific Venn Groups, private group creation with friends, and early access to new titles.

Who is Readerly for?

Readerly is for readers who want a more personalized and contextual book discovery experience. It's ideal for those who are tired of generic ratings and algorithms and prefer recommendations based on shared tastes and interests.
