Still Great in 2023
Thankfully Realbeat still works on my iPad Mini 5th gen as of January 2023. This is a very fun app, it does what the description says and it does so quite well. I would be delighted to see an update and equally delighted to pay for such an update.

So good still
In 2021, innovations that still haven’t been matched. Amazing
If only we could import sounds
to the individual drum slots in addition to recording them live. Even though there’s been no update in 5 years it still works! Wish I could say the same for some other much loved abandoned ware.

Make music from sounds anywhere Great, Easy to Use Sampler / Sequencer
My title basically covers it - you will have fun using this app to make beats from sounds anywhere. The GUI is efficient and well designed
Still, I wish for a more standard "Save As" system, sometimes I don't want to "auto save" changes I make to a file.

This is… really good.
I’m coming from DM-1, which is a great iPhone drum machine but lacks the ability to record or edit samples. The way Realbeat does it is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Tap to bring up the live input, hold to record a sample, and then from there you can fade, amplify, distort, reverse, etc. And then you play these through a step sequencer. It’s like the perfect way to make an interesting beat very quickly. The only thing missing for me is some sort of “randomize” function for pitch/velocity/length and the ability to import samples from files.

Unnecessary hassle
This App is next to garbage, maybe I'm missing a tutorial somewhere but I doubt it. Even if I am and that may likely be the case, however, even to record a sound you have to hold down a button like it was the 1950's. Which pretty much unimaginably limits the type of actual sounds you can put on here, I've had this app for maybe 2 months and i'm yet to get a single useable sound from it. I don't care about the money I'm uninstalling.

The only sampler so far for iOS 8
This is the only sampler on my iPad (so far) that audio buss lets me record to.huh?no daws no anything but a sampler without a song mode?this is turning into a real circus !Apple AND the makers of audio buss need to start communicating if either side expect to fix the destroyed customer confidence that now exits and isn't helping.peacechristo

Seems cool but...
You have to hold down a button to record which makes it impossible to record something like a guitar without involving multiple people.

I never write reviews, and choose to do so now because I believe it is finally worthy to be considered something other than a toy. Trust me, as a toy I had tons of fun with it, produced at least 4 tracks using something from this app, but the hassle of mixing with other samples/audio from other apps was time consuming enough to consider it a sound toy...so I continuously used other ones on the fly instead of this one. If they have implemented Audiobus effectively..this thing has incredible production power. I'd buy it again even if it didn't have Audiobus integration...but now that it will finally be easy to mix with other audio apps.. This is a new must. Hope this helps someone out there have as much fun with this as I have. Thank you for the bus support!!!!

When I upgraded iOS, the "enter text" feature no longer calls up the keyboard. Since the ability to incorporate speakable text was the reason I purchased the app, I'm disappointed.
Just what I was looking for.
I own a lot of music apps on the iPad. I love to make noises and play with sounds, not only with my mouth but from the world around me. RealBeat allows me to be as creative as I want with a simple and straightforward interface, using sampled sounds as beat instruments. I love the app as it is, but of course any increased functionality I going to be gravy. This app fills a niche and I hope it continues to grow. Big thumbs up!

This is the easiest sampler/sequencer I've found for iPad. It's specifically designed to quickly record a set of 8 samples and program them with the 16-beat sequencer. The developer demonstrates using bike and kitchen noises, but it's just as easy for sampling live percussion or instruments on the spot.
SAMPLES 6 of the samples are 1 second each and triggered by volume level. 2 are 8-second loops that you cut in and out of. For each sample you can control volume, amplify, control pitch, edit length, reverse, taper envelope, add reverb, add distortion or create a sample with text to voice.
SEQUENCER Save 15 patterns per project that you can loop together to play live with a Q'ed low pass filter, bit crusher or remix gate and record the performance. Easy to record rhythm tracks for whole songs. You can also copy and paste patterns to recording apps like Multitrack DAW or Studio.HD

+ works with USB mics like the Meteor and GoMic through the Camera Connector to record pro quality samples

Crunchy & cool, but...
PLEASE provide an option to "lock" the x/y pad! After using, it reverts to default position. Annoying when you can't retain edited position when switching to the other 2 screens.
