Pretty good
I purchased this a few weeks ago to review for my students. I am comparing it to the two other jazz play along available on the App Store that feature real human players recorded (quartet and feel book)I am a jazz professor, and use these tools to teach and practice every day. This app comes with a great selection of tunes and they are adding more each week. No complaints there. The recorded instruments sound fine overall, although the bass is very boomy. The musicianship is excellent, and is a great model of real world parameters (why does the piano player keep repeating that same rhythm instead of listening?, etc). The tempos are mostly in the mid range which is perfect for developing jazz musicians. Some outliers- Giant Steps is so fast that if you slow it down for teaching then there are too many audio artifacts. The developers would be wise to record mid versions of that tune, Cherokee and others so they can be used for more pragmatic teaching applications. Overall, I think this app is certainly on the level of the other competitors available.
