Highly Recommended
This app contains probably the best played and sounding backing tracks in the field of jazz that are currently available on the market. Absolute purchase recommendation.
Subscription model and no intro’s
As a function gig musician who uses backing tracks at weddings and other gigs I was excited about seeing and hearing this app. And it definitely has some nice tracks but what makes it not good compared to other, better and similar apps available are: 1, it’s a subscription model which is off putting and horrible, 2, although the standard of musicianship in the making of these tracks is great, there’s no 4 or 8 bar intro’s like there would be with a band and 3, even if there were, the app says you can’t use these tracks for commercial purposes like playing at weddings and other gigs and 4, the number of tracks that you get isn’t good for what would be costing me hundreds of pounds if I had it for a few years. But if you sorted those things out, I’d be a big fan but for now, its not for me unfortunately 🎷🎷

At what point should you just put a record on?
In terms of play-alongs these are probably some of the better ones available. But at a certain point, why not just put on a record and play along to that? Sure, these guys that recorded for this app are good, but they’re not Philly Joe/PC/Red Garland good, or McCoy/Jimmy/Elvin good. This is the perfect app for simulating what it feels like to play a weeknight club gig in NYC.
The records will always be the real thing, play-alongs are never going to simulate that.

There’s no going back
The quality and dynamic feel of the tracks are so far beyond other play along apps that I just want to learn every song here. The tracks build and vary over each chorus, often with tag endings and other interesting devices. Each tune is meticulously researched. The musicians are phenomenal —you’re truly playing with a world class jazz combo. The library is somewhat small now, but they add new tunes all the time. Is it worth the subscription? As long as they keep adding songs then 100% yes.
