Realtime Chess: No Turns

Realtime Chess is chess with the turns taken out. WHAT CHANGES WITHOUT TURNS You never wait for your opponent. A piece you move goes on a short cooldown, but the moment it is ready you can move it again. Both players act at the same time, continuously. PIECES TRAVEL, THEY DO NOT TELEPORT A piece slides across the board over real time. While it is moving it can capture and it can be captured. When two moving pieces meet, the one that set off first wins the exchange. Knights are safe mid-jump and vulnerable only at the instant they land. Reading the position matters, but so do timing and speed. CAPTURE THE KING TO WIN There is no check and no checkmate. You win by actually taking the enemy king. Do you fortify, or spot the gap and rush it? The clock never stops to let you decide. FAMILIAR CHESS UNDERNEATH Pawns reaching the last rank promote to a queen automatically, and castling works as you expect. The tension is new; the chess is not. MODES - Speed: Standard for a considered game, Lightning for pure chaos - Online match: play a live opponent in real time - Play vs CPU: 100 difficulty levels, from beginner to merciless Queue a move on a cooling piece and it fires the instant that piece is ready.
