Realtime Shogi: No Turns

Realtime Shogi is shogi with the turns taken out. NO TURNS You never wait for your opponent. A piece you move goes on cooldown, and weaker pieces recover faster: pawn and king three seconds, lance and knight four, everything else six. Choosing which piece to spend is a real decision. PIECES TRAVEL ACROSS THE BOARD A piece slides over real time rather than teleporting. It can capture and be captured while moving, and the piece that set off first wins the exchange. Knights are untouchable mid-jump and vulnerable only as they land. CAPTURE THE KING TO WIN There is no check and no mate. You win by actually taking the enemy king. DROPS AND PROMOTION, INTACT Captured pieces go to your hand and can be dropped on any empty square. Two pawns on a file and pieces with no legal move are still forbidden. Moving into or out of the last three ranks promotes automatically, so you never lose tempo to a prompt.
