HOW THEY ACTUALLY TRAVELLED Travel in the Bible is now routed over the surveyed Roman road network and costed against real terrain, so you get a walk rather than a ruler laid across a map: 17 miles from Jerusalem down to Jericho, over 4,000 feet of descent, about five to seven hours on foot. Where the journey went by sea it sails, following the coast the way ancient ships did, steering by landmark and putting in at night, so Paul's voyages bend around Cyprus instead of cutting through it.
