About

Reckon is a daily gym for mental arithmetic. Most of us were fluent once. Reckon rebuilds it — one short session a day, no calculator, and no timer counting down at you. HOW IT WORKS A short adaptive placement sets a level for each skill separately, rather than one score for all of you. Every session after that mixes four things: the skill you are weakest at, spaced review of what you learned before, an adjacent skill kept warm, and one question a little beyond you. Wrong answers teach. Instead of only showing the right number, Reckon shows the strategy behind it — round and correct, make a ten, halve and double — so the next one of its kind is easier. WHAT IS INSIDE • Adaptive placement, then a level per skill • Sessions of 6, 12, 18 or 24 questions • Spaced review that brings a fact back just before you would forget it • A method library for the techniques worth knowing, readable any time • Every finished session kept, grouped by week • Four themes: Light, Dark, Ledger and Chalk • Home-screen widgets for your streak and what is due • An optional daily reminder — a few a week at most, never on a rest day • Built for iPad, and for the largest text sizes PRIVATE BY DEFAULT No account, no sign-up, nothing uploaded. Your progress lives on your device.

What's New in Reckon

0.3.1

When an answer goes wrong, the working is now done on your numbers. The method is shown step by step on the sum you actually saw, rather than on a stand-in example. Where a method genuinely does not fit the numbers you were given, the general worked example is shown as itself, instead of being bent to fit. Smaller things: tertiary text, control edges and unavailable labels now meet contrast in every theme, so nothing that carries meaning is left faint. And if your progress cannot be saved, the opening placement lets you in and says so plainly, rather than asking you to try again.
