Crashes at the end of the scan.
When I hit save the program crashes, and I lose the data and video. This happens more often than not.

Right out of the gate, they force you to create an account then force you to turn on your GPS… really gross thinking about what they would do with this data. It seems like it’s got a lot of interesting features for police agencies, but they got money to pay for this. I’d rather use something like 65sqan which is free and I know data ain’t going anywhere.

If you have a need to 3d scan and create scaled 3d point clouds this is the tool to use. Ideal for vehicles or small incident scenes. I’ve been using it for several years and it is an excellent tool.
Forced Update
Recently I went to use the app in a rural area and to my surprise it REQUIRED an update. I’m in the middle of nowhere with an IPad that doesn’t have cellular data and I cant use what I paid for??? I get updates are needed but they shouldn't be required for use. I had to leave the crash, find service and then update the app. Terrible planning, DONT FORCE USERS TO UPGRADE! I don’t want to be your beta tester. Also, BTW this update the camera is laggy and slow to update the screen.

Best scanning app
Recon-3D has revolutionized my workflow for evidence documentation. The ability to generate accurate point clouds from a short video is continually useful! It’s much easier to scan those hard to reach places, or get a quick scan when time is limited. Support (if needed) is excellent.
New updates are amazing
The ability to start my vehicle inspections with a R3D scan and have a tractor trailer scan process in less than 15 min is an outstanding benefit. I can leave knowing that I have a watertight scan to begin working with at the office.

The quality of the scans are outstanding for an iPhone based app. Much better results than I’ve had with other available scanning apps. Besides the quality of scans, the user support has been outstanding- responsive customer service and great tutorials. -tyler

Accurate Forensic Scanning in your Pocket
The Recon 3D app leverages sensor fusion, LiDAR, and photogrammetry to turn the iPhone 13 Pro into a 3D scanner that provides a highly accurate 3D model for forensic analysis. The fact that it is possible to accomplish such a task with a smartphone is insane. I’m not to the point where I will use it as a standalone scanner, but I’m getting close. A few more improvements to make the scanning process more robust and responsive and Recon 3D may replace my tripod laser scanner for many scan jobs.

Great use of iPhone features!
Recon 3D is taking crash and crime documentation to a new level. Using an iPhone to document incidents accurately is not just a great idea; Recon 3D makes it work. Recon 3D’s focus on accuracy is a must to use the app for LE.
Great forensic 3D mapping App for Apple products
This is a great app for iPhones and iPads that have the LIDAR functionality. While you can use targets to enhance the accuracy, I’ve found that it’s accurate enough for most of my 3D reconstruction cases “right out of the box”! That makes this an amazing tool for many forensic metrology applications at a price point significantly lower than traditional field laser scanning tools.
It gets better with every release so I always look forward to regular improvements and additional functionality.

Awesome 3D Capture App
Hands down the best iOS app for reality capture. The data is crisp, clean and the colors are accurate. Validation studies help with the admissibility of data captured with this app. This should be on every CSI’s LiDAR-capable device for quick, accurate capture of 3D data.
Best Forensic Scanning App
No other app on the market compares to Recon3D. The data is accurate, and because of the sensor fusion, produces a point cloud that isn’t fuzzy like other apps. The data is some of the best handheld scan data I’ve seen and rivals some structured light handheld scanners on the market. The processing time is getting faster and the file sizes are very manageable. I can’t wait to see where this app goes from here!

Incredible results in a few minutes.
Scanning a calibrated grid 2.5 feet X 2.5 feet, the error I measured in the scanned point cloud grid was only 0.007 feet. You can get a detailed scan of an entire car in less than three minutes. (Obviously, processing it into a point cloud takes more time in the background than collecting the data.)

At least he get our Email address for free. May be it will be sold without a running program, not solvable permission problems block this app.
An amazing Forensic Level Scanning App
I am a crash analyst and rely on accuracy when investigating crashes and the evidence I produce in court. The app is easy to use and the results are accurate. But more importantly the use of the April tags increases the confidence of the scan. I’ve tried others and nothing compares.

Incredible, Accurate and Easy to Use
This app is absolutely one of the best purchases I have made from the App Store. I cannot believe how well the app works and how accurate the data collected is. The app is super easy to use. I have personally tested the accuracy using both hand measurements and commercial grade 3-D scanners. It simply works and provides a great looking 3-D model from the data captured. Each time I scan I am even more impressed. Using it on passenger cars, and even tractor trailers I can get all of the measurements I need to complete my task. I have tried most every scanner app that I can find and nothing compares to this. I know a tremendous amount of work and research went into this product and it truly delivers. Best of all there is free software that you can use to view, edit, measure and even animate the results. Using the models in commercial grade software is easy and impressive as well.

Not working App
The APP does not work at all. A Screen with oops pops up which asks for permission. All permissions are given, but popup Screen remains.
Great on the go app
I have been using this app for months and use it at least four times a week. The convenience of the app on my phone and iPad and end product means I can grab vehicle damage profiles and small crash scenes easily and quickly
