Bids and Server Inconsistencies Ruin It

Had an auction going on at a local store. Placed a bid close to the time it ended, and it went through on my end and told me I won. Couldn’t pay for the item. When I went to the store, the manager at the time offered to let me pay for the item. Before I could, he changed his mind. I went back for several days, and eventually was outright refused. I had shown all employees my account, showing the bid and the win notification. Why place a bid if it’s just gonna be denied?
