About

RetroPlayer brings the iconic sounds of classic computers to your device. Experience authentic chiptune music from the legendary sound chips that defined the golden age of computing – the Commodore 64's SID chip, the Amiga's Paula, and more. **CLASSIC MACHINES** Browse music collections organized by the computers that created them: • Commodore 64 (1982) – SID 6581/8580 chip with 3 voices • Atari XL (1983) – POKEY chip with 4 voices • Atari ST (1985) – Yamaha YM2149 chip • Amiga (1985) – Paula 4-channel PCM audio Each machine features its own distinct visual identity with period-authentic imagery and brand gradients. **CURATED PLAYLISTS** Dive into carefully selected collections featuring the best of retro computer music: • HVSC Top 100 – The most beloved Commodore 64 tracks of all time • Legendary composers: Martin Galway, Rob Hubbard, Ben Daglish, Jeroen Tel, Chris Huelsbeck, and many more • Classic game soundtracks from Wizball, Last Ninja, Commando, Sanxion, and hundreds of other titles **REAL-TIME VISUALIZATION** Watch your music come to life with a built-in oscilloscope that displays audio waveforms in real time. Each machine's signature colors and design language shine through in carefully crafted gradients and transitions. **FOR ENTHUSIASTS & NEWCOMERS** Whether you grew up with these machines or you're discovering chiptune music for the first time, RetroPlayer offers an authentic way to experience the sounds that inspired generations of electronic musicians. From the punchy bass of SID chip classics to the sample-based richness of Amiga MOD tracks, explore the creative brilliance of composers who pushed 8-bit and 16-bit hardware to its absolute limits.

What's New in RetroPlayer

1.2.0

May 23, 2026

RetroPlayer 1.2.0 combines the planned 1.1.0 playback improvements with a major Amiga content update. It adds dedicated Jochen Hippel and TFMX collections, including Chris Hülsbeck's Amiga music system, with direct playback for Hippel/Hippel 7V/Hippel COSO and TFMX modules with sample banks, plus precomputed song lengths where available. The MODLAND collection also grows with additional OpenMPT-compatible Amiga tracker formats such as OctaMED MMD, Future Composer, and Symphonie. Subsongs are now first-class throughout the app: browse and play them directly, favorite individual subsongs, start playlists with quick play, choose playlist continuation behavior, and turn off chorus and reverb for untouched output. RetroPlayer also now includes expanded localizations for German, Spanish, Finnish, French, Polish, and Swedish. Thanks also to the first RetroPlayer supporters and contributors. Their feedback and support helped shape this release.
