Regional Live Data

It has a friendly interface. Good real-time transit status: buses, ebikes. As far as I’m concerned there are no moving icons for trams and trains. Not a big deal, but to have the bigger picture, would be good if you could still see all the moving transit Icons when zooming out few more levels.

Thanks for your feedback! We’re actively reviewing how we can incorporate NET and train live updates in the Ride app. If you notice anything else, please share it via Account → Help us to improve.

Live Tracking is Fake

Advertisement claims the app can track buses live, which is not true. The 34C has a diverted route on university campus but the ride app “tracked” the bus on the original route. The app claimed the bus was across campus when it arrived at my stop.

Response from developer

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. While Ride does track in real-time, your feedback has highlighted an issue when deviated routes are being used. We will look into this as a matter of urgency and will update you via our blog (transportnottingham.com) on options and our approach to resolving this matter. Thank you for your feedback!

Getting better all the time

Live bus times and it even shows you the bus positions on the map! Outstanding.

I live in Derby and work in Nottingham and this app along with the eventual joined up ticketing is going to be a game changer.

Response from developer

Thank you for the review! It's great to hear the Ride app is working well for you!

Basic

Does not show roadworks closures , road works or travel disruption for the following week
As suggested.although it does look great and helpful for public transport links

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! Your suggestion regarding network updates has been documented, and we are actively reviewing to identify how this can be incorporated in the Ride app. Should you come across any other ideas, feel free to share them via Account → Help us to improve.

It’s fine?

It’s very basic. The options it gives you work, but are far from the best options and there’s nothing that lets you set it to what you prefer. E.g. it makes you take a 2 minute bus ride to go 1 stop to get a second bus rather than just walk to the bus stop. It also insists on showing different operators when there are dozens of options with the same operator but an extra 1 minute of walking.

It doesn’t do anything google maps doesn’t do other than let you buy tickets, but even then it doesn’t give you the best options so you’d end up paying more than using the operators own apps or just tapping on.

Look at citymapper or transit for better options in Nottingham.

Thanks for taking the time to try the app and share such detailed feedback on the routing. The Ride app is being continuously improved based on feedback like yours. While we can’t share a specific timeline increasing the level of customisation (so you can better tailor results to what you prefer) is a key priority for us. Bus icons too small when zoomed out on map

This app is SO much better than Trent Barton’s Hugo app.

The bus stop icons are too large when zoomed in (but the bus icons are fine they size), and then when zoomed out the bus icons are way too small. Keep them larger at all times please.

Response from developer

Hello, thank you for your feedback! As for the map issue, please make sure your internet connection is stable and reinstall the app. Should this not fix the problem, contact us via support@rideeastmids.com

Disappointing

The publicity for this implies it is a One Stop Shop covering the East Midlands Mayoral area. However it omits the High Peak. (Perhaps the Mayor is disowning High Peak ?) For example - No High Peak bus service into Derby (TP2). No Hulleys buses Alfreton to Matlock (140-143). Which results in a plotted route from Matlock to East Midlands Designer Outlet being greatly extended. Disappointing.

Response from developer

Hello, we’ve recently expanded the number of services available in the Ride app, including High Peak and additional providers. Please update to the latest version and check the route again. To view all available operators, go to Travel preferences → Public transport modes. Share your feedback via Account → Help us to improve.

Stagecoach Missing!

The app looks great and seems easy to navigate.
But as I live in Matlock it isn’t much use as Stagecoach and High Peak buses are not included.
I thought that the EMCCA was supposed to cover ALL Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and not just Derby and Nottingham?

Response from developer

Hello, we’ve recently added more services to the Ride app, including additional Stagecoach lines. High Peak is also now available, alongside other providers, so the app should offer improved coverage for journeys across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Please update to the latest version and check it out. To view all available operators, go to Travel preferences → Public transport modes. Share your feedback via Account → Help us to improve.

Angie

How do you see the map (like on the HUGO app)

Truly exceptional

This is a truly exceptional app. For the first time, a one-stop hub for all of your Nottingham and Derby transport needs. The experience is smooth and seamless. Fast. Powerful. Accurate. I want to say a big congratulations to the team at Nottingham City Council that worked on this project. You’re all to be commended and this app - and its branding - really modernises our cities. Thank you!
