Useless app
This app initially worked when I first got the fireplace, however it was always glitchy. I was constantly getting error messages. Then it just stopped even locating the fireplace completely. Haven’t been able to use this feature for a couple of years! Given all the negative reviews and complaints about this app you would think Rinnai would take some action in fixing this, however I can see at the time of writing this review their last update was three years ago! This app is an advertised feature of this fireplace. If it doesn’t work I feel we should be entitled to a partial refund!

App UI feels like it was made in 1980s and never updated.
Worst app in recorded history
Advertised as wifi cable smart fireplace. Had this fireplace for 3 years. App intermittently shuts down and disconnects. Breaks every 2 months. RINNAI spend some $ on yr software for Gods sake!
Very frustrated
App needs an update. Always coming up with errors and often doesn’t connect. App frequently doesn’t load and is such a hassle to use.
Clunky, inconsistent
App often doesn’t work. Comes up with error 92 (connection error), which is a complete crock. Such underwhelming customer care from Rinnai to deliver on their promises.
Rubbish
This would be the most frustrating and useless app. Can’t even get connection. Worked for a while, then stops and comes up with Error 92.

Works well but needs to have smart home integrations
Hi Rinnai,
This wifi functions well if rather slow to initially find, after that it works well. The missing component is some smart home integrations like Alexa/Google/Apple to make the fireplace part of a smart home setup which would be very useful. Seems to be pretty common, is it possible to have these added please?

Works well… if you know what you are doing
I can see a lot of negative reviews on here and most of it appears to be from people that don’t really understand how Wi-Fi works.
The wifi module in your fire is surrounded by iron and then brink or stone (if you are using it as a fireplace replacement) these two together make a really good faraday cage. So if your wifi is not on point and is weak in your room from the start, well then the heater has little to no chance of connecting to your network.
The trick to making sure this works is to make sure your wifi works first. Then everything thing works really well!

Terrible app
Works about 20% of the time. Otherwise stating wifi not found.
Very limited
Nice to have an app, but this is very, very basic. Customers expect more when they are purchasing from mkt leading brands.

Everything works great easy to use timers and heat setting. Little bit tricky to set up again after buying new modem but online instructions on Romani site easy to follow
Need update with more functionality and refresh
Old app that's never been updated with functions or UI. Need an update with Smart Connect (Apple home, Google Assistant, Alexa and so on)...
App can’t connect to heater
I’ve wasted so much time trying to get this app to connect to the fireplace with no success.

Horrible app for a great heater
The whole app and WiFi module is a waste of money. The heater has been made so well and the control of the unit is terrible and really let’s it down.
The fireplace is within 3m of a WiFi access point and if I’m able to connect to the heater it comes up with update WiFi module and then says it cannot due to very poor signal.
The temperature settings seem to be all over the place.
I have just gone back to the very basic remote until the app is updated and fixed

Horrible Application
I’ve submitted a complaint to Rinnai who advised they were not aware of the application having issues and that they will update the application to assist the user. Time to wait and see.
Slow and Stalls
One of the worst device control app. Doesn’t even connect to the fireplace. What’s the use of paying $200 for the wifi module when the app to operate it doesn’t work.
Slow and lacking essential features
It works as advertised, however takes about 15 seconds to ‘find’ the Fire each time you open the app which just about makes it pointless for everyday use.
