This is a choice based movie that has a story timeline to allow the player to do alternative options. Quality of cinematic experience and story are great.

Personally, I am captivated by both paths. Li Zhi’s route delivers a profound partnership; he not only loves us but deeply admires and champions our pursuit of power, making us true allies bound by a shared fate. Li Tai’s route is beautifully crafted, offering an incredibly compelling and layered character evolution. My only complaint is that I wish his story had more chapters. Yet, despite its brevity, his narrative arc still lingers with an enduring beauty. The writing in this game is so masterful that I completely embodied Wu Yuanzhao; I truly loved these characters, and their absence left a profound ache in my heart.

best game out this year
This interactive story game was so fun to watch and play, I had the most amazing experience with literally everything! The culture, the music, the clothes, the infrastructure, everything was just so beautiful & amazing!! I enjoyed playing this game so much that it only took me like 2 days to finish because I couldn't stop. Honestly the outfits are so gorgeous and the music puts you right into the vibe of the whole world, it literally feels like you're watching a high-budget drama show but you get to play it. Every choice you make actually matters for your character to become empress (and later emperor) and the graphics are so smooth with absolutely no lag at all. It is such a fun and addictive ride from start to finish, I'm seriously obsessed and I really hope the creators come out with more ASAP! With the amount of effort they put into this, I’m honestly surprised it only costs $20 to unlock everything, so it is 100% worth it! I hope you guys get nominated for an award as top 10 GOTY!!!! Better than resident evil and 007 first light haha

Worth every single penny
Without exaggeration, Road to Empress is one of the best narrative games I have ever played. Having now experienced both games, I can confidently say the sequel improves on the original in almost every way. The writing, characters, world-building, visuals, acting, and overall presentation all feel more polished, ambitious, and memorable. You can genuinely feel the amount of care and passion the developers poured into every aspect of the game. The way the story blends fantasy with historical inspiration is incredibly well done. I found myself completely immersed in the world, cheering for Empress Wu during her triumphs and genuinely crying during some of the more heartbreaking moments. If I had to criticize anything, it would be the way some of the branching choices are handled. There were several moments where the consequences of a decision felt disconnected from the choice itself. Some pivotal decisions didn’t feel intuitive, and I found myself having to replay entire sections because a seemingly insignificant option unexpectedly determined an ending. At times, it felt less like making a meaningful decision and more like trying to guess which choice the game had secretly flagged as important. Ironically, the moments where the choices felt the strongest were during the Empress route. Because I had already grown attached to Empress Wu in the first game, making those decisions in the sequel became emotionally difficult. You knowingly choose the option that feels morally or emotionally wrong because you understand that, in the context of her story, it is the right choice if she is to become the ruler history remembers. Watching the consequences unfold while deliberately walking that path made those scenes incredibly powerful. I only wish every major branching decision had carried that same narrative clarity. That being said as someone who has played countless choice-based games, this was my first experience with this style of interactive storytelling, and I’m so glad I took a chance on it. It was worth every penny. Very few games stay with me after the credits roll. Road to Empress is one of them.

Une agréable surprise
Alors je laisse très rarement des commentaires sur des jeux en général, mais là franchement je me dois de vraiment féliciter les développeurs. Depuis la nouvelle mise à jour j’ai fini l’histoire en 2 jours (secondaire et principal mais pas à 100%).
J’ai énormément apprécié l’expérience, j’ai versé quelques larmes aussi tellement l’histoire était prenante. Les personnages étaient attachants vraiment, j’ai terminé l’histoire secondaire avant l’histoire principale et je dois avouer que j’étais un peu déçu de pas finir avec le deuxième prince et j’ai trouvé cette route un peu courte. Ça c’était avant de me prendre une gigantesque claque par la route principale, celle où on devient impératrice. Il y a eu énormément de morts qui étaient nécessaire bien sûr mais qui en temps que joueur nous implique encore plus. Sur la fin j’ai trouvé que c’était un peu tiré dans la longueur et je pense qu’il aurait été bien d’équilibrer un peu plus les deux histoires. Je rajoute à cela le fait qu’il n’y est pas vraiment de « fin heureuse » (celle que nous on pourrait attendre en tant que joueur). Cela reste néanmoins un excellent jeu interactif qui m’a fait passer un très bon moment ! Et si votre équipe compte en faire un nouveau (différent ou dans le même style) je vous encourage et vous soutiens vivement !

李泰ルートを楽しみにしていましたが、ハッピーエンドの内容にまったく満足できませんでした。展開が短く、主人公と長い時間を共に歩むような幸せな結末もなく、期待していたものとは大きく違いました。
