So unreliable
On home network and went connect. Tedious.
No iPad app in 2026
Needs to be compatible with iPad. Come on now, this is 2026. I know you can use the regular Roon app, but what if I want to listen to music on the go?
Gets better and better
This has become an indispensable portable companion to the at-home Roon experience! The app has really improved in terms of UI/UX. My thanks and congrats to the team!
As they update it it just gets more buggy
First it is designed by geeks for geeks. Simple to set up successfully, IT IS NOT. But it can be done if you can drill into your router settings and set up port forwarding, etc. Unlike Apple Music etc, Arc doesn’t just work. And then the updates have consistently broken it on my system. And good luck getting support. Remember it is geek-centric. You need to join their support community post your problem and hope for the best. When it works it’s great. Good luck.

Connectivity issues
This app seems not ready for prime time. It’s great when it works, but works half the time. Was going to replace Spotify with this. Full disclosure, I only used Spotify for listening to music. It’s no where near able to be reliable
iPad!
Please please please add native iPad (and thereby M-series MacBook) support so we can FULLY enjoy Roon on the go!! 🙏🏻
Great App, Needs Some Polish
I love this app for managing playlists and saving music to my phone. One area that needs major improvement is battery use. This app for whatever reason just churns through my battery on a new iphone 16 pro. Maybe they should add a battery saver mode for online only use and no filters?
More broken after each release.
What can I say. This app is getting more broken after each release. List of issues wouldn’t fit here.

No CarPlay
CarPlay promised but not available for some reason
Unexpectedly, probably the best music player on the go
A long time Roon user, I held back for years before trying ARC on the go - it didn’t work without tinkering with my router settings, and if I already have a Tidal subscription, why not use that on the go. But I often missed my playlists from home, as well as music that I have on the server but not available on Tidal. Finally I read about Tailscale and gave it a try. Setting up Tailscale was very easy, but I still had to add some firewall rules and restart the Roon server before it worked. However, since I started using it, I’ve been very pleased with the whole thing. It’s a surprisingly good player app, has offline downloads for local content, and works actually more stable and smooth than the Tidal app. The only thing I don’t like is that tapping a song plays it, instead of bringing up the context menu (play next, queue). I don’t want my music interrupted and my queue gone because I hit a song title instead of the little ellipsis button.

Not usable for years
Do not subscribe to Roon if you think this app will let you listen to your collection when you are on a cellular connection. It continually crashes and locks up. Suggested fixes like Tailscale don’t work long term. An uninstall/reinstall/resync will work for a few hours, but it always crashes again. No logs to troubleshoot the problem. No improvement after years reporting the same issues. The app is junk.

Decent.
The UI is great, very good looking, easy to use. It just HAMMERS battery. Easily 10% an hour, my phone is very warm when I’m playing music as well, I can’t fathom why, it seems to need some optimism.
Otherwise it can’t complain, it’s all I use nowadays.

So buggy it’s not worth spending time in this app at all
It works only half of the time, on good days. And when it works, it’s sooooo buggy with all sorts of interruptions to user experience. How can any serious company release a half-baked product like this?!
Does not work
Tried it all, does not work.
App crash
Roon does not take customer support seriously. For over a year people have complained about the app crashing with large libraries. Roon hasn’t done a thing to fix issue and yet they still believe the software is worth charging for. It’s sad!
The Crash Master
Great idea but this app is pretty bad at being stable. It crashes a lot and gets to a point where it can't even stay open long enough to even read an albums tracks. It just crashes in seconds over and over. So, uninstall it and reinstall it and maybe it works for a bit.
The other main issue is the inability to connect when out and about. Sometimes it works but really overall it doesn't for the majority of the times. It says can't find Roon server. That's the common experience with this app. There needs to be a lot of work done on the next update to fix these issues. I know others have a different experience but many have this one.
It is to the point I am considering cancelling Roon altogether as I'm not able to use it as I want to and given all I expect is it to work to play my albums when I'm out and not crash immediately or during a listening session.

No support
There is no way to contact technical support, just a link to a community support page. Submitting a ticket just creates a thread on this page. After a day of trying to get the product to work, I quit and cancelled the trial.
Works 50% of time
I’ve been a roon user for 10+ years. Unfortunately arc only works about 50% of the time. Just like roon when in issue arises they expect you to understand IT jargon.
Years later and still doesn’t work
Despite reporting that this app continues to not work, the developers show no interest in trying to fix it. For years now, it’s plagued with screen freezes and hard crashes. Do not subscribe to Roon if you think this “streaming away from home” app will work.
