Battery drainer

40% battery drain on my battery when it was not in use overnight. This is ridiculous. If the app requires constant location services then figure out away to not use the services when the phone is stationary. My insurance company requires me to use this worthless app, but now I will shut it down. I use an iPhone 14 running iOS 26.5

Poor

Quite possibly the worst performing app I have ever used. Insane lag time, did not capture May 3 - May 24 at all, cannot look at prior months, inaccurately identifies events, no transparency in methodology. Customer service does not reply or declines to provide requested information. Can’t wait for the class action for failing to discount customers adequately.

Required by Insurance, But It’s a Battery-Draining Nightmare

I only have this app because my insurance requires it for a discount. I would never choose it otherwise. After using it, I understand why reviews like this exist.

The battery drain alone is alarming. This single app accounts for 54% or more of my battery usage. That’s not a background app. That’s a liability.

The bigger issue is how poorly it detects whether you’re a driver or a passenger. It consistently records me as the driver when I’m clearly a passenger…if someone is on their phone the entire time a vehicle is moving, that’s a pretty strong signal they are not driving. A well-designed app should be able to figure that out. This one can’t.

It also has zero reason to track my location constantly, yet it does. There’s no justification for that level of data collection for what this app is supposed to do.

I could go on, but what’s the point…insurance is still going to require this insanity.

Terrible.

The first version of this app worked fine. My insurance company had a terrible time getting this version to even recognize my signup code. Now I’m into the app, but it’s not recognizing that I’m driving!

The old app recorded my driving just fine, but when I finally got the new app going, it lost all my drives after Feb. 20.

I’m about to lose my insurance discount if the app doesn’t record at least one drive before March 27. It took customer service a month before I could activate the app. I guess I’m going to be trashing this. 😡

Absolutely horrible and unethical

This app is purely to help insurance company to try to grab every penny they can to upcharge your plan. I get docked points when i receive phone calls and DENY to answer. I get docked points for changing a song on Spotify. I get docked points for text messages i receive even though i don’t respond. Please tell me how that makes any sense.

I also go out 1 night every so frequently fern with friends and anything passed 10pm seems to automatically get flagged for driving too late.

Flawed

Doesn't work. Also has fictional history from prior to upgrade. Garbage. The update is worse than prior version

Absolutely junk event detection

I didn’t touch my phone once and thought this app may be “detecting” phone use when I wasn’t so I tested it. Sure enough 5 events — never touched the phone ever.

Total trash and it’s ruining my rating for insurance.

Poor

Quite possibly the worst performing app I have ever used. Insane lag time, misses entire trips, inaccurately identifies events, no transparency in methodology, actually started subtracting miles from total miles driven instead of adding, and these ‘download the new app now’ messages are excessive when it isn’t even available yet.

Frustrated!

This app has so many flaws. I never talk on my phone while driving! EVER! I have to pull over, parking in a parking lot AND turn off my car to make a phone call. Even if I pull over and park and leave the car running, it gets me for distracted driving! Yesterday, a truck in front of me on a highway had 2 by 4’s flying off his truck all over the road. Of course I suddenly braked. I still hit two of them! So, I got marked down for sudden braking! I guess if it happens again, I won’t brake and just let happen what happens!

Inaccurate

Data is grossly inaccurate. Says you’re speeding when you clearly not. I have other devices on my vehicle and apps and they do not agree with this apps data. Also, I’ve driven about 300 miles a week to date and on the main screen, it says zero trips and 0 miles for the week. But hey, I get a 10% discount for my insurance company for having it. But very unreliable.

Not working

This app hasn’t recorded a trip in over a week. I like the option to change to a passenger when I’m not driving but since the trips aren’t showing up, is it just going to tank my score?

Really?

Making money off of other people’s information. Like I really have a choice of when I drive my car. Like I really choose to have to drive my car at certain times of the day. It’s a ridiculous notion. It’s just blackmail used by insurance companies to get more money out of you and Routely assists them happily all for the almighty buck.

Not a fan of this app

My insurance company requires this app in order to get a discount, so it’s a necessary evil. But this is like big brother is watching you but doesn’t know what it is seeing, and there is no way to give feedback or challenge an “event.”

I pretty much understand the speed category, keep it under 80 and you’re not speeding.

Focus: don’t interact with your phone while driving, since the app is on the phone, it knows. What it doesn’t seem to know is if your map app didn’t take you to the right destination, or there is a road closure that the app didn’t detect, and you pull into a parking lot and open the map app, you’ll get gigged for an event.

Sudden braking is glitchy. It has logged a sudden braking event when I made a left turn into my community.

Time of day is the worst one though. I tend to drive between 9 in the morning and 7 in the evening. Apparently it doesn’t like the time I drive because that is the category I get gigged the most. I can’t really change the times and places I drive to.

If you’re not required to use this app, I wouldn’t get it. It’s not really a good teaching tool to encourage safer driving habits.

Nice app, I like it

Easy to navigate and accurate.

Discounts great, device impact ain’t

It’s nice having a discount on my insurance but while driving I have to be constantly tethered to a charger because it drains my battery when I’m driving. Almost not worth it.

Accuracy

This app has problems. It is not consistent. How can my wife and I be in the same car and have different experiences? It has me doing 91 mph around a corner and 2 hard breaks and my wife has nothing. And yes she had her app saying she was driving also. I showed it to my insurance agent and he said don’t worry about it won’t effect you much. How can an insurance company tell how you drive if the information is incorrect? And yes this is what I expected so it meets my expectations

Lowers your score if you drive at night

I have this app because Farm Bureau requires it for discounted auto rates. I have 117 trips with perfect results but my score should be 10 and it’s 9.3 because occasionally I need to drive at either 9 or 10 PM for my business. Apparently they think you should only drive certain hours of the day and that’s not realistic. If I had to drive every night, I’m sure I would have a terrible score. I think this is a significant flaw and should be reconfigured.

Poor app

2 stars given only because it gives me a discount on my insurance. This app counted 2 airline flights at 303 mph which tanked my score and has never recovered 6 months later. If I am a passenger, it registers activities of the driver. If I have a passenger, it registers that person’s activities too. VERY FRUSTRATING!

Too much battery

Up until recently I would have given this app maybe 3 stars because it was just okay. It often thinks I am a driver even though I am a passenger. I actually had to reclassify one trip because I was on a plane. No, I am not driving 150mph on a runway at a major airport-duh. Make the app smart enough to filter those things out.
But in the last month or so I’ve noticed this app uses too much power. If I am driving, my battery goes down super fast. At then end of the day over 50% of my battery usage is from this app. This needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, if I don’t use it, I don’t get my insurance discount.

Good app but scoring issue

Overall l do not have a problem with the app other than getting a next to zero score for the driving time of day. I work a 7p to 5a shift four days a week which pretty much makes it impossible to avoid driving during the later hours.
