A bit bare bones…

Downloaded this in hopes of having some way of alerting my loved ones if my heart gradually stops beating when I’m alone. The idea is great, and the monitoring appears to work—but I’m uncertain as to the efficacy. I purchased credits to allow message alert sending, but there’s no way to know what that will look like on my loved one’s end because you can’t prompt a test notification—and you can’t set the detection level sensitive enough to get one to trigger (say, setting it to below 80BPM temporarily just to flag one.)

Hoping the app can and will do what it promises, a bit disappointed in the lack of phone-side app features though.

Response from developer

Hi B.G., thank you for your feedback and for supporting RscMe. We understand your concern about verifying that alerts will reach your emergency contacts. The current version includes improvements to monitoring reliability, and we’re also evaluating additional testing and verification features for future releases. Our goal is to keep the app simple while ensuring that emergency alerts work when needed. Thank you for your suggestions and for helping us improve RscMe. — Jan, RscMe Team

Doesn’t send alerts

I have a pacemaker and defibrillator which stays 50 at bottom and 100 at top. This would have been great but my emergency contacts don’t get notified but maybe 1 out of every 50 occurrences.

Response from developer

Hi, thank you for your feedback — and I’m sorry for your experience. What you’re describing can happen due to recent changes in how iOS handles background access to health data. In some cases, alerts may not trigger reliably unless the app is actively opened. We’re fully aware of this limitation and are currently working on a new version of the app that uses a different technical approach to improve automatic alert reliability. — Jan, RscMe Team

Does not update reading

I have had my phone unlocked and the app at the ready for over a week, and in that time the app has updated my HR reading twice total. There is no way it would ever alert someone in time if there was a problem. Wish I hadn’t bought the credits already. Good concept, very flawed execution.

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience — and sorry this was frustrating. On iOS, apps have very strict limits on background heart-rate updates, even if the phone is unlocked. This can sometimes result in delayed or infrequent readings, which unfortunately affects alert timing. This is an iOS limitation we don’t fully control, not something the app intentionally does. Thank you for trying RscMe and for your honest feedback.

Garbage

Can’t get past the screen to add emergency contact. Have to pay per notification. Just needed an app to alert me my HR was too high. Not gong to pay per alert, but the app doesn’t work anyway.

Response from developer

Hi! Thanks for the feedback — and sorry you had trouble setting things up. You should definitely be able to add an emergency contact and test the app before needing to pay. Just to clarify: RscMe uses SMS to send alerts, which is why we use a credit-based system. We don’t collect subscriptions or track your data — each alert costs a small fee to keep it simple and transparent. If you’re stuck on the contact screen or something’s not working, please reach out to us at info@rscme.com — we’re happy to help get it working for you. Thanks again for trying RscMe.

Didn’t send alert

My watch says my heart rate went to 46. It’s supposed to alert my emergency contacts if it gets above 170 or below 50 and they didn’t receive a message.

Response from developer

Hi! Thanks for your feedback and for using RscMe. Sorry the alert didn’t go out — that shouldn’t happen. Could you please email us a screenshot of the app to info@rscme.com? We’d love to check what went wrong and help you fix it. Thanks again for letting us know! Jan, RscMe

Doesn’t work

I bought additional credits. I have IST and wanted to alert my boyfriend if my heart rate got too low. I get the notification that the message has been sent but no credits have been used. It’s great on theory just doesn’t work

Response from developer

Hi! Sorry to hear the app didn’t work as expected. If the message says it was sent but no credits were used, it might not have actually gone through. Could you please email us at info@rscme.com with a screenshot from the app? We’ll help you figure it out and make sure everything works properly. Thanks a lot for trying RscMe! Jan

Unreliable

It sends alerts….WAY after the fact. I purchased the alerts in hopes it would give comfort with stuff I have going on. Both alerts were sent HOURS after a low and high heart rate.

Doesn't work

This app is a great concept but needs work. It's not in real time so when I had episodes of high heart rate my family was notified hours later, you have to manually go into the app for current high heart rate to sync. It should be able to automatically sync on its own.

Doesn’t really work.

It’s is very delayed and does not send reports. Out of the 15+ spikes I had it only sent out 1.

Useless garbage

A ripoff

Credits

No clear way to keep your credits if you delete and reinstall the app.

Response from developer

Hi, We’ve just released a new version of the RscMe app! 🎉 In this update, we’ve fixed an issue with the credit system that some users experienced. Previously, purchased credits weren’t always applied correctly to accounts. We’re really sorry for any trouble this caused and appreciate your patience. The system should now work smoothly, so please update your app to enjoy the improvements.

Excellent App

I have blood pressure issues, I have a heart artery that is moderately fatty so my blood pressure is really hard to keep up even with medication sometimes in the morning or even in the afternoon when I take a nap, my heartbeat drops below what I set the application for and my daughter is my first emergency contact and she right away texts me asking me if I’m alright and the purpose is, if I don't respond to her, she’ll call the cops to get into my apartment. I got this app because I always have thought that my heart is my weakest point and I wouldn’t like someone to find me dead days or even weeks later when my body is already decomposing.

Thank you for your very positive review! We are glad we can help.

Turn off security settings?!?

The last step in the app set-up requires you to disable Face/Touch unlock, change PIN to 4 digit code AND set ‘lock’ at the maximum of 4 hours. No.

How is this app even allowed by Apple when it requires bypassing all of the security features?!?

Could be great heart rate is tied to age in app

I love the entire concept of this app because I have POTS but my heart rate has absolutely nothing to do with my age. My heart rate is totally connected to whether I’m standing up or laying down (or if I’ve taken my meds correctly). I recently had a health incident and wanted something that would notify myself as well as my mom if my heart rate went below X and since Apple only notifies myself this app came up in my search. Unfortunately I couldn’t set my own heart rate - that’s the biggest flaw. Otherwise I would love it. And I would suggest it to everyone in my assorted groups for POTS.

Thank you for your feedback! We've heard you. In our latest update, you can now set Minimum and Maximum heart rate limits for emergency messages. We appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy this new feature.

DO NOT PURCHASE

I never write reviews, but I came here to warn you- this app will not share your info unless you remove the passcode and Face ID. So you literally cannot lock your phone to use this and it doesn’t tell you until after you pay and set up an account. I was able to do the same thing this does in the Health app that comes preinstalled on your iPhone.

Response from developer

Hi Tia, you need to set up the passcode lock which is mentioned in the onboarding. You do not have to pay anything at this stage. According to Apple's requirements for working with health-related data, only when your iPhone is unlocked can we access your health data and monitor your heart rate. I hope I made this clear. Regards Jan

Doesn’t alert

I do not have a lock
On my phone but if the app isn’t open it doesn’t check heart rate at all.
So you cannot do something else and have it checking. Also it doesn’t send alerts like it claims

Response from developer

I am not sure why you experience this. In our logs I can see many SMS alerts being sent throughout the world. Please can you send me more error details by email to info@rscme.com? Thanks Jan

Please fix!

Please let people adjust their thresholds. My son has WPW I am currently using seizalarm as he also has epilepsy seizalarm is good but it doesn’t send the heartrate. 170bpm is often SVT for him as he’s getting older I’m running out of options.

Doesn’t work if phone locked

I thought this app was a brilliant idea but it’s pretty pointless as it does it does not work while the phone is locked!

Can’t adjust heart rate thresholds

Trying to use this to monitor my daughters hr and the threshold is way way way too high. It’s impossible to adjust it other than to say she is 100 years old so it lowers.

Why is the min and max preset?

Please make these editable. I had to make myself 125 years old to make my max alert to trigger at 120bpm.
It’s a little bit useless since my putting real age sets the max to alert at 188bpm. I’m probably already dead before that triggers.
Thanks
