Like the new look but
look and feel of updated News app is welcome.
But why remove all the nice features it used to have from every article. For example:
1) can no longer click on and open images in order to zoom in, etc. Images are inaccessible now.
2) Can no long click on text, then select to cop or do web search. Text is inaccessible now.
Surely features like these are not copywrite issues.

It’s a big downgrade
Dreadful that can no longer zoom in on photos in articles and that can’t change font size. Why have best practices of other news apps not been considered - this is a very restive expert- go back to old app please
The videos don’t work
Since they changed the app ,the videos won’t play and cannot enlarge the photos
Hire a proofreader!! (And put back functionality on "Contact us" in feed settings
Recipes missing ingredients. Recipes for "loaf cake" calling for 3 8" pans. Over and over and over and over, God forbid anyone at RTÉ actually PROOFREADS what's published. Also, you've blocked a funtioning contact button - well done, if we can't contact you, it all must be perfect! /s

Every topic is mixed in with other topics.
Previously I could organise my feed in a simple straightforward way that was easy to navigate and read. Now I have to create an account and even then the feed is in alphabetical order so I have to scroll past business to get to the main news..
So many apps have went the same way as this so I blame the developers who think they know it all and are totally out of touch with the real world and what users actually want. I’ll be getting my news from somewhere else now…woeful.

Worst update I have ever seen
The latest update to the RTE news app is possibly the worst I have ever seen. It makes it unreadable and v difficult to navigate to the sections you want to view. Very much a case of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
Change the refresh settings please
Why does the app fully reset/refresh every time I reopen it? Could be a case of me checking a message for 10s, then jumping back into the app and I’m on the homepage again.
This has to be a configuration thing because no other news apps I have do this. Really hope it can be fixed.
For my sake but also for views for the app: it’s not worth my time finding the article, then also finding where I was, never mind casting my mind back to the subject - I just give up and look at something else.

Fine, just buggy
App is fine, but buggy when it comes to video playing. But the most annoying thing, every update notification preferences in the app resets. I turn off sports notifications so I don’t get spoiled if I can’t see certain matches live, and the amount of times a match gets spoiled for me because the app has recently updated is infuriating.
If the fix notifs resetting it would get 4*

Best free news app for Ireland
Excellent news coverage and usually quick with breaking stories. I use it every day on phone, pc & iPad. Analysis from correspondents worth reading.
Non user friendly
App refreshes every single time. Can’t read an article easily.
Videos don’t Play
For the last few months the videos have stopped playing, just a black unresponsive rectangle! The App Support link is a jolly 404.
Without American or British bias
I’m an American. I follow RTÉ for an additional viewpoint not beholden to the interests of the British or American ruling class. This is especially important re Palestine.

@RTE - what’s going on? Updated my iPhone to latest software but your App opens and then closes itself having not loaded any content. Like others tried the delete & fresh download and it doesn’t work, very frustrating!!

What Happened?
The app always worked on any iPhone I’ve had until recently. It won’t load any content and it doesn’t matter how many times I delete and redownload it. I see old reviews with seemingly the same issue.
Swipe from right to bring main menu
This is an ask that has been going on for years. The app does not follow iOS gestures. Can you please implement the swipe from left to get to main menu rather than each swipe goes to previous story. This has been around for years. So simple and will be incredibly useful.
Won’t load after 6.0.55 update
I use this app many times per day, so it’s unacceptable that an obligatory simple version update makes it unavailable on my iPad. Also the help email address will not respond.
