Not for me !

They should state that Ruckit is only good in areas like the cities of the suburbs with scads of WI-FI access. I click to start the rock and choose the option. I want (in this case duration) and click on the black "start ruck" button. The button turns gray; I put the phone in my pocket and head out. I get back to my starting point to find that the "start ruck" button is once again black and the program has not recorded a single step. This has happened more than once. I am not pleased!

It won’t open

App doesn’t let me sign in. Then it force closes.

Forced subscription

The only way to use the app is with a subscription.

Too many rucks not recorded

Too often, I record a rock on my watch and after the workout I look and it doesn’t sync with my phone. I don’t see an easy way to fix this or to force it to sink so that I can keep tracking my workout. This is very frustrating for a paid app.

Didn’t work

Well I did my “first ruck” using the app. It was doing great on my watch and phone and was tracking everything perfectly. I think the distance was wrong but I didn’t double check it. Doesn’t matter anyway because when I completed my ruck I hit “ stop ruck” or whatever it said on my phone and it didn’t do anything but stop the clock. So then I clicked end and save on my watch and it recorded my ruck as lasting 0 seconds. Then I got a reminder alert on my phone 5 minutes after my ruck that it was time to lace up my boots and ruck. Not a very functional app.

Response from developer

Hi Doc Pettit — We're really sorry you had this experience. Definitely not what RuckIt is built to do. We're a small team committed to making this the best app we can, especially on core things like this. These are all bugs we take seriously. We've investigated all 3 and have fixes going out in the next version. Thanks for taking the time to submit the review to let us know. Feel free to reach out at support@ruckit.app and we'd be happy to send you a code for a free month on us. — Matt and The RuckIt Team

Pointless

Doesn’t really do anything more than what you already get from Apple fitness. No watch complications. Boring UI and zero feedback. Definitely not worth 36 bucks.

Hi rpg0722 — Thanks for trying RuckIt and sharing your thoughts. The core difference from Apple Fitness is under the hood: RuckIt uses the Pandolf Equation to calculate calories based on the weight you carry — body weight, pack weight, speed, and HR. Standard trackers can underestimate weighted workouts by 20–40%. We also protect your VO2Max from being penalized by loaded exercise. Watch complications and richer in-app feedback are both in development. We appreciate the nudge — it helps us prioritize.\ Since your review, we've also made meaningful improvements to the experience — better onboarding that shows the calorie accuracy gap, a streamlined UI, and more in-workout and post-workout feedback. We'd genuinely love for you to give it another look. If you do, we think you'll see why your weight matters to your data — and why Apple Fitness can't account for it. Feel free to reach out at support@ruckit.app with any other suggestions and to get a code for a free month. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. — Matt and the RuckIt Team

Forced subscription

It forces you to sign up for a paid subscription (with a free trial period). Should be free without the forced payment subscription first. Then force to pay later to keep going. Unfortunately, I couldn’t even use the app because I don’t own an Apple Watch. It wouldn’t let me ruck with just the phone. Unsubscribed, deleted, and didn’t even get to try it out.

Thanks for the feedback! You’re absolutely right — the early version required an Apple Watch and a trial sign-up, which wasn’t ideal. Based on your and others feedback, we’ve since fixed that: you can now ruck using just your phone, and you can explore key features before subscribing. We appreciate you helping us make the app better! --- RuckIt app team
