Bad, not worth it

This app is lame. Sure, it works on your Apple Watch, but if try to switch over to your music, the app stops. There’s no history to see how you did over time. I never felt any haptic response. If I could give it zero stars I would.

High hopes...

It seems the developer has abandoned this app. It hasn’t had an update in over a year. I am fairly tech savvy, so I began using RunCadence thinking I could apply the correct permissions required to make it work right. Unfortunately I cannot make it work either. I would really like for this app to work right because it is exactly what I need. I am willing to work with the developers to get things setup right however I do not see any options for support.

Erratic

I gave access to all my health data on my iPhone, but just as other reviews said, it would start and stop erratically. Very confused.

Limited use

It doesn’t provide me with beat to sync my run. Since many running apps can used with watch alone without the iPhone, this app would be useful if we can get tempo beat through headphones connected to Apple Watch. Until then this app is off no use. You have free running apps which tell your cadence during and after run.

Frustrating app. Stops beeping randomly mid-run.

Just trying to get it to beep at 180bpm and stops working mid-run then starts up again at random beep pattern and stops again. Absolutely useless and frustrating.

Response from developer

When the app first starts you have to give permission for the app to access the health data on the iPhone. Without the access to Healthkit the accelerometer will not be giving information to the RunCadence app. If you miss this warning upon opening the first time you can go under settings and allow RunCadence the necessary permissions.

Works great, very useful for injury prevention

This app works great! I use it to reduce my running injuries by keeping a high cadence.

You need to grant it full access to the Health app in iPhone. That’s why I guess it didnt work for other people.

Wanted to Like It

Started the app, gave me cadence, heart rate and distance. Stopped to check, said Start Run. No workout saved, no data, no way to stop the app. I guess I’ll go back to a proven app.

Doesn't work on iPhone 7

I just tried this and it doesn't work on my iPhone 7. Always says cadence is 0 spm. Tried the test feature and run settings and neither works.

PT & Runcadence

While rehabbing a hip injury, I used RunCadence to increase my steps per minute. In conjunction with physical therapy (with Chris Johnson @ ZerenPT), I'm back to running pain free 🏃🏻‍♀️👍🏻

Great app for recreational runners

I really like this app. Clean appearance and easy to use. Keeps track of cadence, distance, and time. Alerts the runner if they are running outside of their desired training cadence. Great app for injury prevention!

Not very useful

It is simple as advertised, but it doesn't really do much-just gives ave cadence at the end of your run. It would be much better if it indicated current and ave cadence periodically during the run so you would have some inclination on how to alter cadence. It would be better if it gave a summary at the end of the run of how cadence changed during the run. The app also should keep a history of cadence during various runs in the past. As it stands this app is not very useful to me.

Response from developer

The RunCadence app gives current cadence on the screen the entire run. If your phone settings are set to go to sleep quickly then you will only see the cadence when waking your phone. The metronome will alert you to when you are out of your chosen desired cadence.

Runner

After looking at positive reviews, I spent the $5, downloaded app and used it. EXTREMELY disappointing and I would NOT recommend it. When you are done with the running session it does not store your data. I used this with my apple watch, and although it is good to see your cadence while you run, it would be better to have it available later on when you are finsihed running. ALSO, the cadence value does stand out, but the font size on the watch is too small for the other information to be seen well (duration, distance). It doesn't work with the native workout app, so overall a BAD experience

Awesome app for amateurs and allstars

Easy to use. A must have for improving or maintaining speed throughout your run. Begin by determining your step rate using the one minute timer provided on app. You can choose whether to maintain speed or increase it using presets and Run Cadence does the rest. If you fall behind on your targeted cadence, the metronome will start beating until you return to your cadence. Upon completion of the run the app tells you your time, distance and steps per minute.

Good first version

Many apps do too many things. RC does a few things very well. It is a big resource for my patients. I believe it is a tool and information that can get my runners back to what they love sooner and independently.

Great training tool

As a sports medicine physician, this is my "go to" tool to help train myself (or my patients) to learn to run with a more appropriate cadence
