Didn’t help me.

I would use this app if I was considering death but I am not and never would, I talked to someone on this app because my dog died and the “professional” sent me away saying to only talk if I was considering my own death. I struggle to reach out to any therapist now for any crisis.

Unhelpful service

I felt ignored while I was trying to use the chat inbox.

It’s nice

I think it’s a good app for people who need help. I do have to say- I enjoy the website a bit better, honestly.
It is a bit irritating that I have to constantly try scrolling down to see if they have responded, I think it’d be nice if it was fixed to be like normal messaging where the screen immediately scrolls down as soon as a message appears.
Thank you guys.

No

Ah yes, talk to an A.I to get help, great advice. Worse than killing myself though.

Fast Response

Late at night, when my son tearfully mentioned he had been bullied the whole school year and hadn’t told us, I remembered the SafeUT app. Download was easy. Reporting the incident went smoothly. And even though it was late, we heard back within 15 minutes. The next morning we were contacted by the school. The bully was dealt with immediately!
Thank you for making this report easy, and your commitment to helping!

Wow

There has never been a moment where I actually have had to use this amazing app but I get bullied so I may have to, I’m just worried that the person will figure out it was me who reported them, but I feel very happy and safe that I have this app whenever I need it. Thank you(also how do I know if I get a response)

NO

They had the police and dcfs workers sent to my house and didn’t tell me anything about it until the cops showed up do NOT use this up

AMAZING

Amazing! Whoever thought of the idea really did an amazing job! I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety forever, it got so bad where I would physically abuse myself. But I tried using safeut and it changed my life. Not only do the operators make you feel like you’re worth it, they also make you laugh and tell jokes! It is seriously one of my favorite apps and will forever be on my phone. My favorite feature is submitting anonymous tips. I’ve had this secret that I felt like no one could know cause they would find out I told. But with the anonymous tip feature, no one knows who’s submitting the tip and they can properly address the situation!

.

Uh so I told them about what’s going on in my life and they only replied to one part and said to talk to my parents about it then ended the chat so I don’t even know I was having a really hard time too and I was hoping to get a different answer than that.

Genuinely helpful app

Every time I’ve had to use this app, I got a really helpful therapist. I think I can go as far as saying I would not be here without this app. In a state like this, living in a rural area is not easy.

I hate this

People abuse it (COUGH ATLAS)

Glitchy/lack of response

On the phone app, it is impossible to see what your typing. I was able to send an initial message and then could not send another. It’s as if the reply button gets hidden. Additionally, the counselors do not respond quickly. I was waiting for a response for well over 15 minutes. If I had been in danger of hurting myself, that response time would not have been enough. Once someone did respond, I had to sit there and wait a bit in between each response. That would have been fine, except the counselor just kept asking me questions-such as are you on meds. Which is not relevant to what I needed help for. When I asked for some coping skills, they sent me a random website that had videos but there were no coping skills whatsoever on there. Not much help at all. Very disappointing.

Hi Elk deer, we're sorry to hear you had an unpleasant experience while interacting with one of our SafeUT counselors. If you would like to let us know more about the situation for further assistance, please feel free to email us at safeut@hsc.utah.edu.

Amazing Resource

I just used this app for the first time today! I downloaded it a few months ago after a school presentation, but haven’t needed it between then and now.

When I did need it though, it was such an awesome tool to have for free at my fingertips. I was skeptical if this app was even made for the type of issue I had; turns out the counselors want to help you with whatever you need (shocker).

I’m very grateful for this app and everyone behind it, and I hope you will take the time to download it, and who knows, maybe it will eventually save your life.

Empathy without desire to provide perspective

I’ve used this app off an on for a while now, and as someone who doesn’t have the money or time for therapy it’s a relatively good idea to have this kind of free support at access of those who need it.
However, I cannot reccomend this for anyone who needs more help than a few empathetic apologies. Those providing support on the app are usually kind, but often overlook questions of directions to take. The most that they will offer is short term coping mechanisms, and this has a potent way of making me feel like they’re trying to get rid of me as fast as possible.

Within the more than 10 conversations I’ve had using this, only once have I felt genuinely better after chatting. So, of course, it’s a matter of who is sitting across from you.
However, when it comes to mental health, one wrong roll of the dove can make a huge impact.

Don’t Trust

The whole point of this app is to be “anonymous” the track you’re location and will get mad at you if you submit a tip that to the best of your knowledge thought it was true. Only download this app if you want the police knocking at your door.

Life saving

I was going through things but I got someone very good and they help me some much

My grandpa

Honestly this is a great app since I have trouble trusting people so I keep everything inside of myself but sometimes I have to tell someone and it is amazing to talk to someone who won’t judge you and that they help you through it since my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer and 5 months to live and the therapist “Rey” helped me through my feelings and it was amazing help so thank you so much!!!
