Avoid it. On iPad, if you’e in portrait view, you can’t even access your crates. You have to rotate to landscape view in order to see the button. Ridiculous. And since it’s an abandoned app it’ll never get fixed.

Wer seine Samples oder Audios durchschauen und kurz Anhören möchte, ist mit diesem Tool bestens Ausgestattet.
Ein Touch auf die AudioDatei = Play, nochmal Touch = Pause -

Would love a duplicate-cleaner function…
If you’re anything like me, your devices are brimming over with a gazillion audio files - samplepacks, field recordings, etc. - and after a while it catches up with you… storage isn’t infinite.
So this is a great tool to get a bird’s eye view, so to speak, and be able to pluck ‘em up like an eagle instead of futzing around through the subfolders you created (or didn’t) trying to recall where you saved it.
@dev - a super useful tool I would love to see would be a duplicate file cleaner like already exists for duplicate photos… tells you where you have two or more identical sounds, which is higher resolution, you get the idea.

Wow!
Immensely useful. This app works in an almost similar manner to the Ableton Live Browser (which I love). Auto-Plays samples as well as midi. Tagging is going to be wonderful. I am glad I found this app before starting to catalog my samples/loops etc... Works with cloud storage. Thank you so much for writing this absolutely fabulous program.

Thank you for your kind review. Yeah I use it the same way. Whenever I get a new sampler or groovebox, I always have my iCloud sample library with me.
App Support?
The is no contact info on the dev site, so I had to post my concerns here. I like the app and enjoy the advantages it provides, however, I do have two issues.
I am struggling with the batch renaming function, which is one of the main reasons I purchased it. After selecting files, I hit “rename” and receive an error message which basically says that the app needs write permission access to the parent folder
I hit “grant access” and I’m taken back to the inside of the folder where the list of samples reappears, but they are now deselected. I hit “open,” type the desired file name and long press “rename.” Nothing happens. I went to settings to confirm that all the permissions available for the app were granted. Same result. It just does not work for me. Any thoughts?
Also, the app replaces the icons for all of my my files that it interacts with. Yes, there is an option to disable this behavior, but it doesn’t return the file icons to their normal state. I deleted the app which did work, but when I reinstall it, all the files that I had previously auditioned return back to the black/orange sample crate icons. I even tried restarting the device. The replacement of icons should be disabled by default and offered as an option, in my opinion . How can I fix my icons?
As I mentioned, I enjoy the app, but would like to see some revisions or at least a workaround for the above issues, especially the batch renaming.

Hi, sorry if you had troubles with the app. There's a Send Feedback button directly in the app that is linked to my personal email address. Please use that button so we can get in touch for the renaming bug. As for the icons, after I introduced the button to disable that "feature", nobody said it doesn't work. Sorry to hear that. I"m gonna remove the custom icons for good. Apparently nobody likes "dark mode" :D
Easier sample management
If you have your own sample packs, this will make it so much easier. “Files” works but if you want to preview a file it goes to a new window and then have to go back to the previous page to drag it. If you don’t remember what it was it’s a pain in the butt. This does it without that issue. Worth it
Sorting in this app, is like decoding the Enigma 😔
Sorting samples in crate makes no sense. I bought this app, because I thought I would be able to quickly create my own Drum Kits. The ability to sort samples in a certain order was most important to me, but unfortunately this is not possible in Sample Crate. Trying to arrange samples in a certain order is more like a lottery 😒

Hi and thanks for the review. Have you tried the EDIT mode? You can long press and drag & drop pads to re order. Does that not work for you? Maybe it's an iOS update that broke it. I haven't checked honestly. If you do try it and it works, please update your review. Or if you're still having trouble don't hesitate to contact me via the send feedback form in the app.

Great app for organizing audio samples. I have only one issue, I can‘t drag n drop samples from the crate to other apps. It just swipes down the crate. I can only dnd from the browser. I use an Ipad Pro M1
Still every cool app. I am using a export helper folder to export my selection of samples. Why isn’t it possible to drag just one of many samples from the crate? This is the only feature I would wish if I could

Hi. Thanks for the review. In order to drag from the crate to other apps use the export button. You either tap to export or hold the button and drag all samples at once.

Essential iOS app for musicians
Finally an easy way to preview audio with one click. I use it to add samples to Logic Pro (iPad) and it’s so seamless it seems like a native feature. Seriously, this is a life saver and time saver.
You need this
If you do any audio work on the iOS platform, this is an app you need. I put it right up there with AudioShare and Audiobus (along with a plethora of of apps I always suggest to people who are branching out to make music on their iOS devices) but this is a needed app. It is just as important to me as Apple implementing the file system. The ability to access my files in a cohesive way and also organize them is fantastic.
It seems like such a basic concept, but Apple is always late to the game when it comes to audio on iOS. It always takes a brilliant and small developer to come up with simple solutions that we all take for granted. As someone who has been making music on their iOS devices since 2011 I can tell you how nice it is to not have to jump through hoops like we had to just evil six or seven years ago. I also beta test many apps and have been beta testing for over 10 years so I see a lot of crappy audio apps that just want money and it is so nice and refreshing with a small developer comes around and makes a game changing app that is not price gouging us. This app is so affordable. I feel like I’m cheating the developer. It’s always updated and does far more than we all think it does. Midi preview, video to audio, and other little gems are a great thing to have especially when you have hundreds or even thousands of samples to deal with.
I don’t know how anyone could give this app under five stars just because they can’t change the icon color. It is a real shame that we ask so much of certain apps without understanding just how hard and time-consuming they are to make.
Thank goodness this developer has made such a crucial and needed app that in my humble opinion, will go on as one of the apps that has helped iOS audio into main stream production.

MIDI file preview! Hooray!
Thank you so much for adding this function. As iOS midi generators continue to improve, it’s so good to be able to preview ever growing MIDI file collections without having to generate matching audio files to reference. Hoping you can add MIDI crates to the app as well.
Superb tool for IOS music makers
If you use samples, or just need to keep track of your files in dedicated app, then this is the very fellow. Easy to use, efficient, nice looking and crucially, continuing to evolve. All at a very reasonable price. Once you’ve started using the Sample Crate, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Very Nice...
I previously preview sound files with the "Auditor" File Explorer App with one click. This works very well. But the sample chain "crate" in your app is an innovation and an excellent feature. My compliments. My wish list: 1. The possibility not only to export all samples from "crate" via drag and drop. But also to be able to select individual samples for export by drag and drop. 2. Preview of Midi files like the Helium App (4pockets).

Für Koala mittlerweile überflüssig
Eine schöne und grundsätzlich nützliche App, die Stand heute vor neun Monaten zum letzten Mal geupdated und deshalb von der rasanten Entwicklung der Bordmittel in Koala Sampler mittlerweile überholt wurde. Für manche Anwendungen möglicherweise noch hilfreich, im Zusammenspiel mit Koala mittlerweile völlig überflüssig.
