Serious Formatting Problems

Content is adequate, even if it reprints MAGA right wing op-ed pieces without context. The problem is that the daily edition has so many formatting problems, and is based on really bad decisions, that it can be unreadable.

Sign in constantly doesn’t work. Support does not return requests for help.

New Tribune app.

Here we go 'round in circles! Try. To open tribune, tribune tells me to update and sends me to App Store, App Store sends me to page that tells me to update app. Rinse and repeat.

Response from developer

Dear valued subscriber, I'm sorry for the issue you are experiencing. The lastes version of the app requires iOS 17.1+, so older iPads that can't upgrade won't be able to run it. To make sure you can still access the app without interruption, we can provide a tablet device that's compatible and will work wih the Tribune app right away. If you would like to proceed, email us at wecare@mcclatchy.com and include: Your full name, Mailing Address, Best phone number (optional, for delivery questions). Once we receive that, we'll get the replacement tablet arranged and share the next steps. Thank you, Customer Care.

Working Very Well on iPAD

I used to get very frustrated when I viewed the pages on my iPhone or galaxy tablet. But now that I’m using a newer iPad, everything is clearer and the menus of content are easier to navigate.

Response from developer

Dear Valued Subscriber, Thank you for the positive feedback. Customer Care

Even worse than before

Just when you think it couldn't get any worse, it gets worse. Still, as bad as it is, it is not as bad as it's reporting.

Login screen endlessly reloads

Despite being a paying subscriber ($35/month), I am unable to access content because I am taken back to the login screen each time I try to sign in with verified credentials. Once I fell for the trap of “renewing access” and wound up with two paid subscriptions. Luckily I got wise to that and killed the duplicate subscription so I am no longer being charged $70 a month for news I can’t read. I am all for supporting local journalism, but maybe it’s time to go back to a hard copy newspaper because this app is simply unusable and, despite poor reviews going back a few years now, the company seems uninterested in fixing the app or retaining subscribers. Is this how local journalism dies in the 21st century?

App does not let you sign in.

The update to the app now does not allow the sign in page to work. Please fix it. I regret updating because I cannot access the content.

Great way to stay informed!

Supporting our local news source is important for our community. The Tribune does an excellent job providing news both local and global. The app provides all the news I need to feel current on our communities concerns, challenges and celebrations.

Can’t stay on article

I’d love to support the Tribune, but I’m probably a few days away from canceling my digital subscription. The phone app is how I access the Tribune. When I click on an article, I have about 2-3 seconds before it automatically transports me back to the home page. I can’t read anything! I was advised to delete and reinstall the app, which I did - no improvement. Come on people, make it better.

Plagiarizing others investigative work

Frustrating experience

App update took three days to sign in, three talks with customer service before I could read the new, downsized e-edition. 1-Star for the whole situation. Had no problem with the app before this revision. Appreciate the developer response.

Bad app bad paper

I’ve been sorely disappointed in both the digital user experience and the content of the paper. Cal Poly’s university newspaper has much more journalistic integrity than the slo tribune. Not worth it.

News feed broken in iOS 15

The news feed no longer displays any news in the latest version of iOS

Apple’s Private Relay breaks the newsfeed

Apple’s Private Relay when activated in iOS 15 breaks the newsfeed. The newsfeed indicates an error updating.

Disable Private Relay and the newsfeed returns to normal functionality.

It’s obvious that McClatchy does not like the user tracking disabled when Private Relay is enabled.

So much for disclosure on the amount of these news apps track your internet behavior.

Literally the worst app on my iPad

It stops constantly stops working, and customer service says the same thing every time (when you can actually get them to respond) “ delete the app and re-install it. Do you have any idea how many times I’ve had to do that? This isn’t even taking into account the myriad of problems when the app actually works. They should be embarrassed.

No obituaries

I am sad to see you have excluded obituaries. Cancelled my subscription after 25 years

Extremely disappointing

Very buggy, difficult to search. I have to re sign in ad nauseum. Frankly the ap is as bad as the “reporting.”

Bad change

The new changes are terrible. I copy the puzzle page and now it does not print correctly. In addition, to read an article, now you have to touch each article to make it readable. The old edition was much better. Please consider to going back to that app

Beta version rocks!!

You’ve done everything right with this version. It was painful getting there, but we’re loving it. Thank you.
