User reviews

Easy to Read

As someone who prefers a paper newspaper on her table, I am pleased with the ease of reading it on my tablet.

WHAT ADS? I don't see any ads!

*** update***

Update - I got a new phone and lost my subscription- not renewing. And why are important news items for subscribers only? Closed roads, state of emergency declared by the sheriff - ACTIVE SHOOTER on the Heuneme base? The news is supposed to be a public service FIRST, I’m disappointed to say the least!

This is an update to my review since reading the other reviews on here...I don't see any ads on the new version. And even if I did, I don't mind. However, I do believe that if someone paid for a subscription based on "no ads" - then they should receive a refund. I, for one, am loving the idea of being able to read as much as I want for free, and I will tolerate the ads for that specific reason.

This version is better for me since there doesn't appear to be a forced limit on free articles.
The last version had a monthly limit of 10 **free** articles and then you had to pay for a subscription to read anything more that month. I was never going to pay for a subscription - I don't believe I should be required to pay for information when the paper makes money already on ads. But that's me. I'm willing to tolerate the ads so I can get my info for free. Old school "over the air" free TV paradigm. People under 30 won't understand that concept.

****The only thing I don't like about the new version is the real estate section part of the app. I can't get to my saved searches very easily or at all sometimes*******.

Rip off

Dont bother using this when the la times does a better job

Terrible change

I want just the original VC star app. New version is terrible. Been a customer for 40 years and will quit this paper if original is no longer available!!

Unable to “send feedback”

Unable to “send feedback” as directed at the end of a news article. The send feedback page is just a blank white screen. Nothing better than an inaccessible shadow corp writing articles with AI. There’s little “local” control or accessibility for our community.
