The Tools were a surprise

Flashlight and Sound to help you be found. Had the app a long time but first time finding that it can do something.

Cluttered, confusing

The app is cluttered and confusing. I expected to find the latest info on a impending tropical storm and advice on what to do, instead i got a video of a bunch of people praying before saying it was up to me to make my own plan. Way to go for the advice from “the experts” Kinda sums up SC government’s lack of response to everything - we don’t care, go figure it out yourself.

Poor location finder

Need to see what zone I’m in. Entered address. “Could not find”; Use current location - “Could not find”. Looked at map. Found closest business but would not give the zone. Tried several times and after the 4th try, it showed I was in zone B since I was close to Walmart! If they are going to put out an app to help people, it should at least work. I should probably give this a one star but feeling generous today hoping for good news that Dorian will go out to sea further.

I did check to be sure location services was turned on for this app and it was. I had no problems with other apps using my location but this one I did. I will try again after the storm fully passes - maybe that has something to do with it.

Hi Greta’s mom. The app uses your phone’s own GPS so you may want to check your location settings. You can also confirm your zone at scemd.org.

My zone is not correct. I am not in Zone A, not in Georgetown.

Meh.

Let’s start with that I appreciate the SC Emergency Management website and team. This app can be used to see what government offices are closed. It does not provide updates that are helpful during storms. For updates you need to go to twitter or read news. Will remove from my phone and just check website/twitter.

Sure, there are tons of apps that provide news, but this one is all about you and having all of your emergency information in our place. Huge disappointment

I decided to download this app because I thought it would be great to have in case of emergencies. I turned out to be horribly wrong. This app is nothing but a sick and twisted form of torture. You can have your phone on silent and everything but this app will still go off. And what makes it worse is that it’s not a normal type of notification. This notification will be a deafening siren type of screen like a war is about to start. This siren has woken me up multiple times throughout the night for the same notification that I have clear. One notification for anything will go off at least four time but they will be a couple of hours apart. So you will have no chance of peace. One of my ears are damaged because they of this app. And I almost wrecked my car once this morning because of it. This app is supposed to save your life but instead it puts you in danger. If you really want to be safe just download an app for your local news and weather channels. You will get the same notifications. They will just be a lot less detrimental to your wellbeing. Please don’t download this app. I do not want anyone else to experience what I have. Your experience might be a lot worse and no app is worth your life. Or you physically or mental well-being. I wish you

We think you might be confusing our app with Wireless Emergency Alerts issued by the National Weather Service and other agencies when a life-threatening emergency exists. The SC Emergency Manager is not connected to these alerts for the very reasons you describe. While you may receive push notifications through the app, those are quiet and you have the ability to deactivate them. The SC Emergency Manager is all about you and your personal emergency information. Focused on Citizens

This is a great app for personal preparedness for citizens. As an Emergency Manager, I highly recommend this app for everyone. We should all be prepared to be self sufficient for at least 72 hours, this app provides the guidance one needs for surviving a disaster.

Disappointing

Downloaded the app but I can’t see much use if you are not in a zone. We are having severe thunderstorms right now and there’s no information. Not sure why it’s for SC when it only has limited coverage.

The SC Emergency Manager is all about you and managing your personal emergency plan. This is not a weather alerting app. If you would like information about weather alerts, please visit scemd.org or monitor your local media.

GPS is not accurate

Just tried the GPS for my location (my location settings are on) and it was waaaay off! Not even close.
Gave out an address that is 1/2 mile away.

Thank you for trying out the features of the SC Emergency Manager. Keep in mind that the maps feature estimates your location based on your iPhone’s built-in location services. It should show the same location as every other app that has a location setting on your device. It’s a good idea to double check your device’s location-based settings just to be sure. Improve the maps

Not a bad app but I wish it had more detailed maps, such as SLOSH, Flood zones, Evac routes etc.

What Zone

Although the app shows what color zone you are in, it doesn’t give the number/letter of the Zone.

The Zone letter and county are displayed in large bold letters above the map once you select a zone, use your location or use your address within the Know Your Zone function.
