User reviews

No good

I was expecting something substantially better, however although it scans the symbols efficiently, I have yet to get a successful link to the products I scan. Bull.

Use to be good

Use to use this app all the time, past year or so it hasn't been usable, won't ever scan

It is great!!

U can't scan bar codes on like items from the store or stuff like that... But u can scan things like If u get a otterbox there is a code that directs u to there website. If u want this app for that than its a great app

Crashes

Doesn't load or bring up what's scanned...don't waste ur time

WAS a really nice 2D barcode scanner!

What's with all the personal information required now? I just want a simple, no-frills QR decoder, with a scan history... and NOT something that auto-processes every scan without showing me the contents of the QR code.

Previous review: I like that this 2D barcode scanner does NOT require a network connection to decode stuff! A lot of "free" scanners out there require a connection to the net so they can track everything that is scanned. I put my iPhone in Airplane Mode and was able to able to scan and decode a variety of sample QR codes I found online (via a Google Images search).

Note that this is NOT a 1D barcode scanner (nor does it claim to be), so it does not scan UPC codes on products, for example.

At first, my only complaint was that the app attempted to immediately "process" whatever you scanned. (If you scan a QR code that has a URL, it switches to Safari and opens it.) However, in the Settings app, you can set "Confirm Actions" to "On" (it defaults to off) and now it prompts "Open URL?" which is better, but I'd still prefer a mode where it just decodes the QR code and displays it — without any "action" prompt at all. Just show me the contents of the code and let me click the "Follow Link" or "Add Contact" button, etc.

Note that some sample QR codes (which looked to be pretty dense) that I found via Google Images search crashed the app.
