BIG MAHALO
I’m 3 hole punching my 60-1 from this mornings 4 legs and all I can think about is how I have to go sit in the Costco gas line for 30 minutes so I can spend today’s earnings and make it home. Im hungry and tired and doing 3 of the 4 legs IFR on this beautiful blue sky day didn’t make it go by any faster but that’s ok, I need the time. This is when the phone rings, I pick up and its my ACP telling me that another F.O. called in sick and their line starts in 45 minutes. He asks if I can do it and I am hesitant to answer because I am running the numbers on my empty mind and stomach. Like a bolt of lightning it hits me!! I put him on hold and pull out Udi’s app! In about 15 seconds I say yes with a quiver, realizing that I still have to go to Costco after this. Hey but at least I am confident in my answer and odds are there will be Krispy Kreme doughnuts at one of these bases. At the end of the day I am 6.9 hours closer to making someone else do the cabin check and I’m sure my flexibility will be remembered when the vog eventually claims me as well. The bottom line is that legality comes first and much like a life alert for the elderly it has your back when you are the only one responsible for yourself.
