Scrollbreak: reclaim your time

You never planned to scroll for an hour. You opened the app for five minutes. After that the feed decided how long you stayed, and it is very good at its job. That is the part nobody chooses, and the part nobody sees. Scrollbreak gives you the choice back, and gives you the number. HOW IT WORKS Pick the apps that eat your time. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, whichever ones they are. From then on, every five minutes of scrolling in those apps ends in a one minute break. When the minute is up they open again for another five minutes. That is the whole loop, and it repeats for as long as you keep scrolling. No willpower required. The pause does the work. THE ONE MINUTE BREAK One minute, in silence. A line fills across the screen so you can see the minute going, and when it reaches the end your apps open again on their own. There is nothing to tap and nothing to read. You do not have to sit and watch it. The minute runs on the clock whether the app is open or not, so you can put your phone down or go and do something else, and if what you were doing was important, come back to it a minute later. SEE THE REAL NUMBER Every break is counted. The app shows you your breaks and your scrolling time for today, yesterday, the last 7 days and the last 30 days, plus a calendar of the days you took breaks and your current streak. Most people are surprised by the first week. That surprise is the point. You cannot cut down something you cannot see. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Scrollbreak collects nothing. No account, no sign up, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind. Your statistics live on your phone and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud storage so they survive a reinstall. Nothing is ever sent to us, because there is no server to send it to. Scrollbreak uses Apple's Screen Time features to pause the apps you choose. Apple hands the app anonymous tokens, so it never learns which apps you picked and can never see anything inside them. WHAT IT IS NOT It is not a blocker you have to fight. You are never locked out. You can pause the breaks, change your app list, or turn everything off in Settings at any moment. MEMBERSHIP Scrollbreak is a subscription with a 3-day free trial.
