About
Settled is a daily edition of interesting things that happened a week or two ago.
No breaking news. No politics. No pressure to keep up. A new edition each day, small and finished — culture, nature, space, science, health — chosen once the noise around them has died down.
The delay is the point. A story that mattered on Monday often looks different by the following week: corrections have landed, the hot takes have gone quiet, and what is left is the thing itself.
The edition also comes as a short podcast. Two AI hosts, Maya and Theo, talk it over like old friends on a Sunday morning: they tease each other, and they do not joke about the sad stories.
The voices are AI and so is the script, and they say so at the start of every episode. The jokes are theirs; the facts are the edition's. Lock the phone and it keeps playing.
WHAT'S INSIDE
• One edition a day. When you have read it, you are done.
• A short note at the top, and a single word for the edition's mood.
• Stories drawn from Wikipedia, NASA, Futurity, Smithsonian Magazine, ScienceDaily, Atlas Obscura and Good News Network.
• Read the summary here, or follow through to the original. Every story says where it came from.
• Two weeks of editions are kept on your iPhone and open without a signal, their episodes with them.
• Ask Siri “What's in Settled” to hear the mood, the note and the first three stories.
• Share a story as a typeset clipping.
• The edition on your Home Screen and Lock Screen, in a widget.
• Light and dark, or whichever your phone is already set to.
WHAT'S NOT
• No infinite scroll. The edition ends.
• No reminder until you turn one on, at an hour you choose.
• No politics, violence or celebrity gossip — filtered out before they reach you.
• No account, no advertising, no third-party trackers.
• Nothing stored on your device that identifies it. Not a device id, not a session id, not even an anonymous one.
Settled is quiet on purpose. It is not trying to be the first to tell you anything.

The widget no longer keeps the old paper on the doorstep once the new edition has arrived. It catches up whenever Settled is open, and looks again by itself every two hours. We have also tidied up Settings, so every edition now arrives whole. We hope the next edition finds you somewhere comfortable, with a little time to spare.
