i love this app and use it for everything in logic pro ipad but its not avaliable for my mac it so analouge one of the best apps out there please make it avaliable for the macbook .

ShimmerFX reste malgré ses 3 ans d’ancienneté l’une de mes préférées.
Un son très propre, les réglages essentiels sont là, l’interface est claire et agréable (sauf sur iPhone SE sur lequel la lisibilité est assez discutable, ce qui vaut pour l’ensemble des applications de ce développeur), mais la qualité est bien là et vaut peut-être de faire quelques concessions 🙂

Doesn’t work anymore with GarageBand
It won’t recognize anymore by GarageBand. I used to love this AU for my acoustic guitar effect through irig hd2.

Not working correctly
I Love the sounds of this plugin but the pitch-shift/shimmer option is grayed out when I want to use external audio source like my guitar. It says its only available at 44.1-48KHs sample rate but works fine when using the internal sounds like they keyboards and ect. I hope there is a way to fix this so I can use the most important effect with my guitar. I’m also using GarageBand on my iPad.

What’s not to like?
This is an amazing sounding and highly configurable app.
I’m using an iPhone 7+ with iOs 14, and Shimmer works seamlessly for me, in AUM. (I definitely recommend upgrading to iOS 14; you’ll find that things speed up and memory issues and audio dropouts are not prevalent like in iOS 13, which for me was a flop.)
There’s a healthy amount of presets.
Sound is very smooth.
Great editing power.
Has XY controls, too!
One problem, and perhaps the only one for me in this app, is that when you click on an edit for a parameter, you get to a screen that doesn’t give you a button to return to the main interface.This is easily solved by swiping on the side rails, which gives you all the successive parameter editing areas and back to the main.
Otherwise, I don’t know how anybody could possibly give this a bad rap, when they’re probably lazy and have zero understanding of how to explore any new interface.
Kudos to the developer for creating this and charging a reasonable price!

Thanks for the nice review. As for the Edit button, it just scrolls to the relivent page in the vertical scroller (a shortcut if you like). Generally you use the vertical strolling to move between the interface elelments.If you click on the scroll to top option in the right margin you can quickly page to the top of the interface.
Great multi fx plugin
This thing is powerful and allow to modify a lot of parameters but there seem to be no option to save user presets. Please add this functionality. Thanks.
Fine reverb, but...
This effect works well with the touch instruments in GarageBand but I purchased it for use with my guitar and that’s where it comes up short. There’s seemingly no way to make it work the way I’d prefer and there doesn’t seem to be any sort of documentation/support. It’s unfortunate because playing around with the piano demonstrates a really flexible, interesting effect that I would really like to use.

In what way does it not work on your guitar? Even if its not suitable it does work. I find it rediclulous that just because this type of effect doesn't work as you wanted with your guitar that would justify a 1 star review? A shimmer reverb is designed for creating soundscapes, and not really a guitar effect, but nevertheless it does work well, especially with accoustic.
Like all 4pockets software apps...
This is very good and a useful addition to ios. Its not quite comparable to various hardware fx imo, but for the price and with some tinkering, you cant beat it and the fx can get quite close.

I got Shimmer, couldn’t access it. The suggested video didn’t give any instructions beyond how to access ordinary downloaded AUs.
The overview said it would work on my iPad but it won’t open. My iPad is 32-bit. Is that the problem?

You nned to be running at least iOS10 I believe so this could be the issue here, plus you are right I think the 32 bit iPad's can't load this version of iOS.

I can’t give a review as I can’t even get it working on a 2018 iPad Pro using GarageBand. There’s no sign of it on GarageBand. Some sort of manual wouldn’t be a bad idea.

This AU extension is just not there as far as Garage Band is concerned (GB finds all other AUs).

Looks and sounds good. No Save!
It looks great, and the fx sounds pretty good too. But UI is a bit heavy on resources makes this iPad (Pro 10”) crackle with just a few apps running. But the 2-stars rating is because this *AUv3* plugin doesn’t have a way to save settings. You can save settings using your DAW, but not inside ShimmerFX so you can’t have a preset list that you would use between apps. There’s a preset list, but it’s only for the ones that come with the app - can’t save yours there. So it’s like a “demo” preset list.

Just to clarify, the actual fx when active is not that heavy on resources (Zeeon is more heavy, for example). But the UI, (when you open the plugin to tweak controls) is very heavy, one of the heaviest I’ve tried so far, in fact. Similar to RE-1 (which also got a pretty heavy UI when opened).

But on iOS there are several DAWs/tools each having sought-after features, yet falling short (or not designed for) others. The beauty of AUv3 is that it can just be seamlessly used between them, whether you want to re-use some preset in new project, or carry over existing project from one place to another.
For an actual example, though I’m not much into DAW-less approach, and prefer to always be able to hit Rec and have midi + audio tracks readily available, I just can’t resist using ApeMatrix which is an amazing tool for coming up with sound ideas. You can complete the whole project in it (and many people do this in fact), just like in AUM or AudioBus, but these tools don’t have multitracking and can only record (output) audio files. So I often start projects in ApeMatrix+Xequence, come up with sound/song ideas quickly and then carry them over to Cubasis or Beatmaker (and soon NanoStudio, once it gets audio capability) for further completion. And for this to work, it requires internal presets for each instrument and fx.

Since the host saves the state of all settings I didn't think this was so important. Point taken though and I will add this to my list of future updates.

The good news is it’s now available in GarageBand for me but the pitch shifter won’t work......it states that the pitch shifter is only available at 44.1 KHz which is what garage band is set at.
Disappointing at the moment.
Update Respect to the developer Paul this is now functioning in GarageBand with the pitch shifter.
I am not technical so need to learn how to apply it fully to see if i can get that full shimmering sound.

You need to understand that only some instruments in GarageBand work at 44.1KHz, but a lot drop down to 22KHz, most likely to be compatible with lower CPU speeds. When the plugin is loaded it tells us the sample rate it wants to use and this varies depending on the instrument selected. It might tell you it's mixing at 44KHz, but thats only half the story.
