I had some ongoing issues with the app (see below) but over time the problems have been fixed/addressed, and the support is much improved.
Old:
When it works well this is a fair app. But buyer beware: back everything up because receipts will occasionally disappear with no trace and expect crickets if you request support. Also the app and the website are sometimes not synchronized. If this was a way to track songs or movies it would be fine, but for personal finance the stakes are too high for this level of glitchiness.

Simple. Effective. Secure.
An incredible App that delivers in so many ways. Receipt tracking is highly functional in a simple and easy to use layout.
Documents are easy to organize with note taking ability.
What could be improved:
1) Search functionality could deliver more accurate results on top.
2) Importing of PDFs via email seems to miss some occasionally. Noticeable PDFs include Amazon invoices.
3) Receipt editor built in to manipulate order of multi-page receipts.

Using this for 10+ years
This app is trash. I feel terrible for not having switched sooner. Nothing scans correctly and things stay in queue forever. Wild to pay $9.99 a month for so long and there are few if any upgrades. I end up manually entering and still it stays unprocessed. Not even sure why I’ve been paying them when I need to do all the work at this point. There’s a ton of burgeoning tech, so buyer beware and look for better.

Very responsive support
Every time I have an issue and send an email to the Shoebox support team the respond quickly and clearly. Every time they have exceeded my expectations.
Great Upgrade!
I’ve used Shoeboxed for years and have always liked it. I use it mostly for miles. With the upgrade, I don’t have to name my trips because the app makes note of where I’ve been. I only have to tell it if the miles are business, medical, or charity, and the app takes care of the rest. No more dropping a pin every time I get out of the car. (No more forgetting to drop that pin.)
I will say, on the small downside, that a couple of my trips have been short changed by a couple of miles, with the app pointing to a location I didn’t stop at, before I got to my destination. So, maybe 4.5 stars. But overall, much easier to use, much more intuitive.

Nope
Download and deleted in a matter of 30 minutes. I made a typo when entering an expense category and come to find out there is NO way to edit or delete a category. The unwanted category remains indefinitely. Such simple oversight that makes the app unusable.

Your app is glitchy it was good for a while the. It won’t let me take photos of receipts. Even chat for customer service is a weird loop

What’s the point
I downloaded the app to help keep business and personal life a little more organized. But I can’t even “try for free”. Every time I try to sign up, I keep getting error code 422
Old, Slow, Poorly Designed
I’ve used Shoeboxed for years. No product improvement. Very slow. Poor account categorization. Looking for alternatives.

They changed and it’s terrible!
The updated app is terrible. I can’t add my receipts manually quickly anymore. The amount from the receipt doesn’t show up either. It takes 10 hits on the “edit” and enter manually button before it even responds. Then afterwards it shows no price Redering my receipts at 00.00. Unless this is fixed I recommend not purchasing this. I wish I could go back to the old format which worked perfectly for me for years.
