This is a very good e-book reader. It’s not perfect, but I like it better than Apple Books and the Kindle app. Unfortunately it seems that this app has been abandoned, with no updates in years, and some annoying issues with layout on a modern iPhone, so I lowered my score from 4⭐️ to 3.

Please note that the bug reported above only occurs when "Always Show Status Bar" is turned on AND "Page Margins" is set to be smaller than "Medium" (default). It will be fixed soon. In the meanwhile, do feel safe to update unless you're picky on that specific combination.
Best reading app
I love the shubook app. It’s very versatile and very user friendly. The only thing missing now is continuous scrolling. That would make it even better. Any chance of that?

До этого читала русские книги на бесплатной версии, но так как там ограничение на скачивание книг решила купить платную версию, а там книги только на английской языке.
Добавьте пожалуйста русские книги. Флибуста.

Excellent, easy to use, well supported.
I’ve used Shubook for years now. It’s proven to be a very nice to use ereader and library app with excellent features. I like being able to customize the look and feel, and vertical swipe for brightness control is genius. Day/night mode is one touch away (unlike some other big players who’s app is fussy).
Library tools are great and being able to edit book covers and descriptions in the app is helpful. Import and export is easy and preserves metadata.
Pay the money, buy the app. It’s very good indeed.

Так и не исправили проблему с сбрасываем PDF книг на последнюю страницу книги, тоесть не запоминает страницу на которой остановился читать, ИСПРАВЬТЕ уже,меня только беспокоит эта проблема. We can't reproduce your problem. When a PDF book is re-opened, it is indeed opened at the page when it was last closed.
Apart from one bug I hope they’ll fix, I love it
I bought ShuBook 2M as a replacement for my beloved, now defunct Stanza, after trying many other ePub readers. I love it and have made it my default reader on my phone: it is unfussy, versatile, does not encrypt my books (and enables me to share them) and I have only ONE gripe, which I hope will be fixed: often, the top and bottom line of a page are sliced so that I have to scroll/“turn” the page to see the bottom of the characters. This is annoying so please solve it, and then I’ll rate you the 5 stars you deserve! 😊

Great App
I've been enjoying Shubook for years. It does everything I need it to do,and it does it simply. I had a problem with the latest version, but the developer replied right away with a fix, so I can say I'm enjoying it again very much.

You may open Book Settings and turn off System Screen Brightness to get back your old preferred setting. As for the "bad color themes" issue, we can't reproduce the bug. Can you send us a screenshot with your iPhone model and iOS version number? Thanks. In fact, we're doing an update in a few days. So you'd better email us soon in order to catch the next train. :-)
Forever User Suggests Improvements
I have used ShuBook almost from its inception, through each subsequent version, and right up to the current 2M version. I love its simplicity, the ability to download ePub & PDF books from any source, add tags, download book covers, sort by author, change fonts, change to nighttime reading, bookmark, etc. etc. It's never eaten or lost a single word, much less a book and I've read thousands and store thousands of books.
Why only 4 stars? It continues to lag behind all other major e-readers by lacking the ability to highlight text and to add your own notes for future reference. This is a major setback for me. I'm a voracious reader and getting older. My memory isn't what it once was. I hate that this otherwise perfect e-reader has an almost unforgivable flaw. I also use Kindle because of their proprietary e-books. I love the highlighting and note writing, but find it unwieldy as a library for all my e-books. Please, please add these indispensable features!!!

Best ereader out there!
I absolutely love Shubook. After Stanza was killed off I tried many apps that left me disappointed. Shubook is hands down the best and gets better with every update. The tagging system from Calibre now automatically sorts in Shubook. If you have a ton of books like I do this is a lifesaver.

Not bad at all. The only thing I don't like is the icons in menu, they're ugly...
Perfect Library and Reader
It supports all the file types I have in my calibre database. It can download all books at once or all of a special group. It can export the books to other apps in case I want to do some mark up. Many settings. Great customer service with quick and helpful answers.

Still the best reader in the App Store
Overall, an improvement over the previous version. Not sure it's worth the full upgrade cost, since not much has been added. More polished, yes. Cleaner, yes. The selection feature is significantly improved. The new version uses native 6/6+ resolution. Those improvements are a big plus, but perhaps not worth the full version bump.
The system brightness control is gone; now it's just a grey overlay. I miss the system brightness. Of course, Control Center makes changing system brightness from within apps possible, so that feature may have outlived its usefulness. I still miss it.
The developer continues to be very responsive -- my last support email got a helpful and thorough answer within about 3 hours.

New Version still has some bugs
Update 2 : All the bugs i reported have been fixed. Many thanks to the support team !
I upgraded the app to 4.5*
The only thing i am missing is that the series information from calibre is automatically moved to the label field.
Update : I am in contact with the support regarding both bugs and changed the rating from 2* to 3* since work in the issues has started
....
I have used the original app for some years and really like it. So i decided to buy the new version. Unfortunately it still is buggy : migrating my library from old to new app did not work. The app crashed while creating the migration files. I had to manually import mymbooks.
A second bug occurs when scrolling in booklist - sometimes the app crashes.

Intégrer directement calibre: c'est une vraie horreur à configurer et pas du tout intuitif!
Dropbox est le seul à être vraiment intégré mais c'est juste un accès à la version mobile
Les sites inclus sur les ebooks français ne fonctionnent pas: à chaque fois que je clique dessus, un message d'erreur apparaît
Il faudrait aussi pouvoir rajouter des sites d'ebooks par nous même: idoc.co est un site intéressant et très complet mais impossible d'y accéder via cette appli
Améliorez l'interface: c'est moche et la navigation page par page n'est absolument pas fluide
A ce tarif on est en droit de s'attendre à mieux pour ce genre d'appli!
