Very disappointed by the complete inexistent costumer support and unclear instructions on security
I have now being using Signal for over 5 years and abandoned WhatsApp completely (I cannot stand Meta group) with no regrets whatsoever. The app is great, safe and has a very functional chat, everything I was looking for that WhatsApp was not giving me (such as being added to big groups with unknown numbers without my consent and ads appearing on my Facebook account based on things I had been chatting about on WhatsApp). However, I am extremely disappointed to have to report that Signal stopped working suddenly one day and the app prompted me to restore it without clearly warning me that it would completely wipe out all my chat history when reopening it. I was also never clearly notified to save the Recovery Key chain which I cannot access now as it was in the app back up before I restored it (I am a very organised person and would have copied it somewhere safe if I understood the extent of the need of it). Therefore I am now locked out of my previous account and security texts to my own mobile number are not enough to recover it without this key which I find excessive given this is not an app dealing with state secrets but only personal conversations. To add to it, no one is coming back to my emails from the support team, really disappointing considering I have been donating to the app in the past to keep it independent and going. To change my rating back to 5 based on the functionality of the app, all comms should be updated to be much clearer for the user when prompted to restore the app and when creating the recovery key!

Facial recognition is not the best for this app. Also when the facial recognition fails sometimes I can’t just enter my pin. It glitches out and I have to close the app completely and restart the process and if the facial recognition doesn’t work again then you have to loop the process. Pretty lame.

Having to constantly pass a CAPTCHA type check to send messages to people you normally communicate with is a real hassle. Bad move on signals part.
