Simply Fluent: Read & Learn

Simply Fluent 2.0 is the app I wanted to build all along. I started building it as a side project in 2018 because I wanted to read in Dutch and get lost in a story. The first time I saw the meaning of a word right above the line, reading felt different, and that's when I committed to it. This year I reimagined the whole thing. Every screen is new and the app is rebuilt from the ground up, because I wanted it to be somewhere you'd happily spend an evening with a book. What I want hasn't changed. I want you to enjoy reading and build a big vocabulary one book at a time, until one day you put the phone down and read a paper book in your new language. For years I had to tell people to go somewhere else first and come back when they were ready. That never made sense to me, so I've started building paths that get you into reading sooner. You can learn a new alphabet and your first 100 words right here, then read your first page. There's still a lot to do and a lot more languages to support, but it's taking shape. The reader is where you spend most of your time, so that's where I put the most care. Translate any word or phrase and you see the meaning it has in this sentence. If you want the grammar behind it, open an insight. Once you save a word, its meaning is shown above it in every book after that, so page by page you look up less. And on the days you'd rather listen, any book can be read to you while the pages turn. If you used the old app, all your saved words are still here.
