New phone. App and lock do not work after download. Need troubleshoot. Please help!

Product design is cheap plastic but serves the purpose to keep kids from opening refrigerator late at night. Instruction are in Chinese and English. Clear booklet is simple enough and first rating at 1 star is a ? To me as it works as it should for me.

Does not find lock during scan on IOS 13.3.1 or Android 9
