Great companion app for the O2 ring

SleepO2 is a companion app for the O2 ring, not a standalone app.

The O2 ring is a blood oximeter that you wear on a finger overnight while sleeping. It measures your O2 level, heart rate, and movement throughout the night. In the morning when you wake up, as soon as you take off the O2 ring, it uploads all the data to this app.

The O2 ring and this app are especially useful for people with sleep apnea on CPAP therapy, or people who think they might have sleep apnea.

The app presents the data in easy-to-read charts. If you don’t know anything about how sleep apnea impacts O2 levels and the heart rate, you have a little learning to do - but it’s not hard, promise!

With the charts in this app, you can quickly get a sense of how well your CPAP therapy is working - or not working - and can make adjustments to your machine settings accordingly. For example, if the data shows frequent drops in your blood O2 levels, accompanied by spikes in your heart rate, then you need to go into your machine settings and turn up the pressure a bit. If the data shows consistent high O2 levels (96% is very good) and no spikes in your heart rate, then you try reducing the pressure setting of your machine a bit, which makes CPAP therapy more comfortable and tolerable. Importantly, if your O2 levels are low or you have frequent drops in O2 levels, that’s a sign you need to talk to your doctor about next steps, because if untreated you are at high risk of all kinds of serious health problems.

I find the app super easy to use. I went to the developer’s YouTube channel (“CPAP Reviews”) which has easy-to-understand explanations of all of this stuff, including the O2 ring and the app. The best defense against health problems from sleep apnea is being an informed patient, and I’ve found the developer’s YouTube channel to be an extremely helpful and easy to understand information resource.

And my O2 ring and this app are a big part of my therapy regime - they help me understand how well my therapy is working, so I can get good, restorative sleep, which reduces my stress level, blood pressure, and risk of stroke & diabetes.
