Needs an update.

Both this and its sister program GlitchBreaks will not work with Audiobus 3. They both crash. Please address this. Thank you.

Broken

Will not load in effects slot in AUM. Launching in background crashes AUM on iPad Pro. Frustrating.

A beautiful app

I’ve been using this app for a good few years now, it really comes together when you mix it with other music apps such as Borderlands but even on its own it’s very hypnotic. If you are creating ambient, glitch music this is a must have.

A real sleeper

Great unique little app, industrial music for industrial people. Can be unwieldy at times but fun to experiment with. Long audio files tend to be more drifty and noisy or ambient, short audio files tend to be more musical. I love that the dev keeps updating it, unlike many bigger devs on Apple Store I could mention. Thank you Alex M.

Nothing works now

After the May 2019 update, no sound and various parameters are just visually vibrating all over the place with nothing happening sound wise!
Please fix!

Needs an update at this point.

Thanks for the kind reminder on FB. 🙄

wassup?

you let us down or what?

Great app...

But it really needs an update. That being said, it still does some cool stuff.

Another creative, exciting Mathieu sound/music development tool

If I have to read another genius review calling an app a “toy” and not (pick a word for some category of thing we are meant to presume is somehow better than a toy and insert it here), a piece of my poor, unreality-damaged American brain will likely shrivel down to a useless stump. At which point, I suppose, I will cease to register bull dink until such time as the brain can regenerate a new meaninglessness meter. If I can get to a place detached from the internet and news of White House briefings.

Enough of that.

Sliver is not perfect. It really could benefit from basic usability updates focused on bringing precision and control to the creative chaos it brilliantly brings to music making and sound design. When I want some inspirational sound mangling that is nonetheless musical, Sliver provides it. Bringing it to heel, however, is real work. To some extent, it cannot be done. This lack of parameter precision is not a fatal flaw, but it does limit how and when I use the app.

I would use Sliver much more often and put it to better use if I could impose a little bit more method onto the frequently lovely madness it encourages. It would not be a huge amount of development work to add more numerical control to or along with the blocks and the X/Y pads, for example. Yet even those changes would much improve usability.

My use of the app revolves around copying audio into Sliver, making something almost completely different, recording the result, and exporting/copying that recording to some other app. I suspect this is the intended workflow, and that is fine by me.

There is no reason to hesitate about getting the app if you need some craziness in your music. But there is at the same time ample reason for Alex to make some UI and functional changes to increase the scope of what Sliver can do.

Just rediscovered this beauty

Excellent soundscaping instrument.
Also, check out the same developer's Glitchbreaks. It's another winner.

Fantastic effects

Spent the last hour making brilliant sounds and jamming with Addictive Pro and Drum Jam + Sliver in AudioBus. iPad Air 2, iOS 9.3.5.
Glad I picked this up.

still amazing and essential

i love this app and the presets are amazing and easy to get lost in and listen to and space out... so simple and fun to use and the results are always superb!lots and lots of fun

Interesting and cool, not a new instrument

Fun, a lot of territory to explore, it has the potential to find a place in my standing rig, but it crashed under the simplest of conditions. This was the only app running on my Ipad at the time and the app crashes

For now it is a toy, not a tool.

Bugs

Sound only works sometimes. Not compatible with audiobus.

Mystery machine

Got this on sale, and think Sliver can definitely fill a niche in my audio dabbling. But, I don't know how much use it will be to me. Five stars because it clearly works well, and for those whose sonics are more based in this area, it would be a gem.

Textural and interesting.

Sliver is essential for those involved with any sort of ambient/drift/drone/minimal experimental recording. The use of assignable incremental sections is brilliant and yields some very interesting results. The apps functionality is great. I've been using Sliver heavily and have experienced very few problems, if any. Takes a bit of exploring to unlock its full potential which is fun. Love how it works with audiobus and IAA straight into audio share which is a nice feature.

I would like to see an update featuring mutable and/or assignable effects parameters (being able to alter the pitch bend range for more subtlety), and longer sample time for more variety. Would love to speak with the developer if I could!

All in all a fantastic app that should really be getting more attention! Highly recommended

Brilliant app

This app definitely belongs in the "weird and wonderful" category. It will require you to really sit down and suss out all the wonderful features to truly appreciate it. That being said, you can bring in a sound and absolutely go crazy with it right out of the gate.

Great developer as well, who has dedicated much time and effort into this app. This one will remain a winner for a long time.

Unfinished app?

This one, though promising, isn’t working well for me. It randomly quits on me and isn’t saving presets accurately. Important areas on the interface have the same size as little-used areas and are not demarcated clearly enough, and compared to other apps it’s very easy to select the wrong thing. Looking forward to updates because I like what it’s trying to achieve.

Excellent Granulation based Synth

Granular synthesis is very popular method of creating sound in the IOS app world at this time. It takes a lot of effort and thought to make something that stands above the rest and Sliver manages with very little effort. I would spend 10 mins with manual so you can see the potential and learn the controls and then have great time using the app.

Thanks Alex

Congratulations Alex Matheu.
This is an absolute must for the arsenal of music apps for any musician.
Import your samples and change them, alter them, morph them, bend them. Wonderful fun while making sounds and Scapes. And with the latest update running it through the FX slot is just mindblowing. No problems with my ipad3, no crashing here.
This app is perfect for the ambient musician and soundscape creators.

Thank you so much Alex :-)
